I wouldn't recommend it - not an electrician, but that sounds like a really, really, really bad idea. If you do, make sure your homeowner's insurance covers fires.

Take the entire rootball(s) out of the pot. Soak in your sink or somewhere else with lots of water, and gently run water over it to slowly but surely remove the dirt. After doing this for a few minutes, there will only be root matter left and some random pieces of dirt caught up in the roots...

Cosign on that. And OP, I wouldn't give nutes at every feeding - that's begging for salt buildup and nute lockout. Soil needs to be flushed between feedings to make sure all the nutes are gone before feeding again.
