2x 600 Watt with a 1000 Watt ballast?

can it be done? i know you can use 430 watt bulbs with a 400 watt ballast but i was wondering if you could do the same and use two 600 watt bulbs with a 1000 watt ballast.

anyone tried this? some dude at a hydro store told me it can be done but he looks sketchy and coked up lol

I wouldn't recommend it - not an electrician, but that sounds like a really, really, really bad idea.

If you do, make sure your homeowner's insurance covers fires.
