They grew fast. I see even some yellow tops from growing so quick. They do look ready for the hps.

ok so i'll only use it in the grow tent, leave it on only at night when i won't be looking at the plants, open the tent only when the light is off, put six tomatoes under it :roll:

I got a little ahead of myself and got a 10000k 400watt mh. The color is similar to what I got going here and it's been working quite well. The thing gives off a lot of UV, I guess I'll run it at night and only see my plants during the dark cycle. At least I'll be able to grow tomatoes this way...

I've just never heard of a DIY carbon filter

3lbs per plant sounds like those giant sativas you see in cali weed documentaries. inside it's about a zip per amp lighting (dry). i don't know how you guys get a gram per watt some sort of hokus pokus unless you mean wet then 1/4 dry thats about 25g per 100 watt... zip per amp.. same. it...
