The white stuff on the rooter is prolly salt rather than mold. In your earlier pics that root cube was soaked with nute mix but now its dry, so it looks like maybe the nutes have formed into salts as they dried out. It shouldn't cause any problems.

Thanks potrick. I'm not sure you could use the twin fan thing to flower anything but auto strains. It would be a real challenge to lightproof it. The other looks very promising, similar width to mine but a little deeper and taller. Should be fine. Good luck.

It's a pc yes but that doesn't seem to be a problem so far. The ballast is 100w, the bulb hasn't arrived yet so I don't know the spec for sure but I asked for 3000k as I run a perpetual 12/12.

Hey DW As above, sounds like your soil has some added nutes so maybe you can get away without using your own. It usually says how long the food will last on the soil packaging. Remember that if it says 6 weeks and you cut the soil 50/50 with perlite then you'll only get around 3 weeks with it...
