I'd say go with four...you don't wanna crowd them. If you're set on doing five...you can try five and if it gets crowded get rid of one.

Just ma 2 cents...I'm gonna agree with bare bulbing being the way to go unless space is tight.

You can add buffers to stabilize pH if necessary as well...but you shouldn't need them with regular top ups as mentioned.
