I like my itaste 134 powering a variety of devices. The variable wattage dial allows you to set it according to the ohms of your attachment.
Use a panasonic 3400ma battery.
I've used Nautilus, iClear 30 and Kanger tanks on it.
I've also been known to pop a globe nail on it at 8 watts and...
That's my line of thinking. They say 5 weeks out for a 1500 psi unit and more wait for a 5k psi unit.
For that matter, the pump alone is probably 1700+
Perhaps the material was different. I run with 3 coffee filters backed by a mesh screen. I hardly think the screen made a difference, not like you're filtering particulate as fine as a stack of unbleached coffee filters.
Freezing locks up a lot of the crap. If you want to eliminate the air/h2o vapor you can shoot nitrogen gas in there to purge the atmosphere and then seal the cylinder prior to freezing.
More oxygen at the roots. Big air pumps (I use a 110lpm pump for 6 stones) and replace air stones every 3 months. Do NOT reuse. Air stones should be placed directly below the roots to provide a constant air column thru the roots.
