Suggestions for a single driver to drive 4 of them at 1400ma? Dimmable a plus :D Should be my last question though, I know I've been as nusiance. Will defiantly be directing friends to your site though.

What do you think is better? 2 3618s at 150w each or 4 1825s at 75w each? Less wiring with the 3618, but more cooling required. I wonder if you could kapton tape a Cryorig M9i CPU cooler to these. They're $20 coolers that perform good as a lot of $50 ones.

I meant to say: 2x 3618 at 150w Or 4x 1825 at 70w Shooting for about 300w in an 8sqft area. Would either of these solutions be worth pursuing or am I going to need more? Which is more preferable?

The 1825's are interesting now. Jeez now I see the 3618 too. 4x 1825's @ 1400ma 2x 3618 @ 1400ma Now I'm looking at your light engines too. What one would be better for me you think? I was thinking the 1825s for more spread, but idk now. 3618s are almost more cost effective due to needing...

No different than buying a more expensive binned chip isn't it? Price 4 Citizen 1212's $44 4 CXB3590's $120 Difference of $76 Efficiency Citizen 45% Cree 56% Difference let's say 10% If my bill from the LED setup is about $30, I'll save a measly $3 a month. A grow is roughly 4 months long...

Yes but that 1/3 as much will come back in electricity savings in just a couple grows I would imagine. How do you calculate PPFD cause I'm doing something wrong apparently.

Initial price yes, efficiency no. Running at the low currents they need to be competitive with Cree, I don't want to sacrafice light penetration. 56% at 1400ma isn't bad at all.

Could you show me how you calculated that by any chance? I have a spreadsheet I messed up on apparently.

This is what I was kinda expecting, glad I asked. I'm going to buy 4 36V 3500k 80CRI CBX3590's, and a single driver to run these at 1400ma for an 8sq ft area. Should give me 714PPFD if I did my math right? Would this be a good driver? This will be a huge step up from that crappy Mars300 unit I...

Oh really? That's it? I see people with 800-1000ppfd all the time. Are the CXB3500 36v still the most efficient at 700ma? I see they're at .64 currently.

DiY LEDs - How to Power Them

Now I'm trying to balance efficiency, initial cost, and PPFD. Anyone want to make sure I'm calculating PPFD correctly? What are optimal PPFD numbers I should be shooting for? From my understanding, PPFD is measured from 1 foot away? I was thinking 1000 would be good, then the lower branches...

Help me understand Cob Lenses and Reflectors

Ahhhh there we go I just misread something. So are lenses worth using then if they won't help with penetration?
