Help me understand Cob Lenses and Reflectors

You just said 24 PAR W/SF is on the low end, then you said 20 PAR W/SF is a good target? Maybe I should start really learning the math behind the COBs. How are you calculating PAR W/SF by the amperage I'm running the COBs?

Help me understand Cob Lenses and Reflectors

What would you consider optimal W/SF? Trying to make some good stuff for this grow. I don't mind sacrificing a little efficiency for optimal buds :) I appreciate the advice you've been giving me on a couple other threads too

Help me understand Cob Lenses and Reflectors

I mean it looks like they're only $2 a piece, if it helps efficiency, yield, or anything I might as well. 90 degree lenses it is, I suppose these are better than reflectors? Any particular brand I should be looking at, or get whatever is cheapest on alibaba?

Help me understand Cob Lenses and Reflectors

I'm planning a DIY Cob light, that will have 8 Citizen 3500k 1212's running at 700ma. At this low amperage for efficiency, I'm worried about light penetration. Will reflectors or lenses help with this? If so what ones should I be looking at? Grow room is 2'x4' COBs will be evenly spaced. Also...

Looking for advice on my DIY COB project

I'm not an expert by any means, but I hear Citizens 1212 COBs are the ones to get right now. They're about $11 right now as well.

    Most Efficient LED Light

So I'm planning my build as we speak. 8x Citizen 1212's @ 700ma 8x Pin Fin Heatsinks. What size should I go for passive solution? I'll have a box fan or something for airflow. Would be nice if they could handle COBs being run at 1400ma too. 8x Holders. What are the cheapest holders for these...

    COB efficiency Spreadsheets

I meant to say 4 @ 1400ma OR 8 @ 700ma 1212's would be about equivalent, how much brighter would either of these setups be than my MARS300?

    COB efficiency Spreadsheets

Sounds like I need to run them at 1400ma or buy 8 then correct? Same driver I would be using then? Anything else speculated to come out soon? Now that these citizens are so cheap, contemplating doing a grow very soon instead of waiting for spring. And also, how much brighter would 4-8 1212's at...

    COB efficiency Spreadsheets

Holy crap you're right!!! $12 wow! CLU048-1818 looking like quite the buy. Any comparable sheets with 3500k spectrum? 4 not going to be enough for a 2'x4' single plant setup? Don't mind buying more if needed. Want to grow a dense buds.

    COB efficiency Spreadsheets

Oh man I'm an idiot. The dollars coming from chip cost vs light output. I was thinking more efficient, why would $ per PAR go up? Makes perfect sense now. Thanks for clearing that up. Recommendations for drivers for these? I plan to run 4 of them at 700ma I think. Enough for a 2'x4' closet?

    COB efficiency Spreadsheets

Nevermind wow. Never seen 64% efficiency COBs yet. What driver to drive 4 of these bad boys? What does that last column stand for? $/PARW? Wouldn't less $ per Par Watt be better? That part never made sense to me.

    COB efficiency Spreadsheets

I was looking at some citizens COBs. So does this mean the CXB3590 is still the most efficient at the moment? I know these are 3000k, but would be similar for 3500k right?

Introducing CobKits.com - specializing in DIY and Citizen COBs

I love learning about all of this stuff, thank you very much for your time! I have plenty of height so that's not an issue. So what exactly is a light engine? I was under the impression it replaced drivers, but I guess I was wrong. Why not series over parallel if parallel has those issues...

I'll still fighting with either 4 1818s or 10-16 1212s running at 10w. What's the simplest solution to cooling the 1212s running at 10w? The efficiency intrigues me. I would still want holders for ease of setting up. 4x2 grow area. Anyone have guides on calculating efficiency of lights? I...

4 1818s sound reasonable to me at least. Would 3500k be good for veg/grow? I suppose i should start pricing everything out. I'll more than likely get the cob holder, pin fin heatsinks, and everything in-between. So these are more efficient than the cxb3590s? I'm also new to light engines. Are...

That's a lot of freaking COBs wow. This is my first light, 20 COB's sound a little intimidating. Any thoughts on a driver(s) and how to mount them all on what?

Introducing CobKits.com - specializing in DIY and Citizen COBs

What would you recommend for the most efficient setup? I have about $300 to spend total. Growing a single plant in a 3x3 closet. I was looking at CBX3590's, but these are looking more efficient? I want this to be an all around veg/bloom light in one.

DiY LEDs - How to Power Them

Very nice!!! I have more of a horizontal growing space. I'm still finishing up my soil grow so I'm not in an immediate rush. I plan to buy the lights in the fall and start a dwc grow.

Any additional details? Model number, release date, price, efficiency, anything? Not sure to hold out on my build or not now bleh.

DiY LEDs - How to Power Them

Perfect I'll order one along with everything else. Have you heard anything about new CREE COBs? I read in another thread that a rep mentioned something new coming out. I'm trying to wait to see what it is, but idk if that's just a rumor either
