    Yes, the plant will do fine, as long as you don't blast it with the light really close. Start it off with the light a fair distance - at least a couple of feet.

    Mars are not terribly efficient LED's - so yeah, light is probably the problem.

    6 strips would be good for that size. make your fixture 24 x 24. 150W should be all the power you need for it.

    The resistor is there to ensure your pot goes *over* 100k ohms so you get full power out. Pots can vary quite a bit and if it only goes to 90K then you'll only get 90% power.

    You just need to know current draw at the wall. Kill-a-watt is your friend there. HLG's are typically 93% on 115 VAC power and 95% on 230 VAC power.
