    Heirloom scented geraniums, anyone?

They’ve been around since the Victorian age, I believe. They used to be really popular because you could do all kinds of things with them, including adding a leaf of it to your apple jelly. (Roses and apples really seem to go well together, but they are also related.)

    Heirloom scented geraniums, anyone?

These are some of my favorite plants. They’re quite rare and very difficult to find in your local nursery or greenhouse. They come in a wide assortment of fragrances, including pine, mint, citronella, old spice, etc, I absolutely adore the fragrance of roses, so I have been collecting the...

The Lazarus Grow: my first grow in almost 18 years

So here we go (again). I took a cup of water and microwaved it until it was almost boiling, then added a quarter teaspoon each of molasses and brown sugar, plus a pea-sized amount of Clonex gel, and stirred it all up until it dissolved. I divided the solution into four 50ml portions and dumped...

Bad, weird and peculiar smelling strains

I didn’t grow it, but the absolute grossest smelling thing I ever came across was Citral Skunk. It smelled exactly like dog poop Yuck. Thank the gods that it tasted better than it smelled!

    Soil drench for gnats

I actually use a tea ball strainer! I fill it up on one side with granules (gives them room to expand) and then hang it on the side of a gallon pitcher and run warm tap water over it. I can just leave it in there to “steep” and easily remove it to make another batch (I will reuse the same...

    Your peppers please!

I have 3 each of ghost pepper, Trinidad scorpion, and Carolina reaper. A buddy gave them to me, and I am terrified of them. Opening them to extract the seeds was like microsurgery on a thermonuclear device. I kept them separated but I forgot to label them. Oops. They were all grown together...

    Anyone mix LEDs and HPS?

Fair point, thank you. Edit- I know I want one more 1000w LED light in there. There’s a noticeable gap between them that needs better coverage. Performance wise I’m pretty happy with these lights so far, but to be fair I have only grown a single crop of lettuce with them.

The Lazarus Grow: my first grow in almost 18 years

I remember you! Weren’t you on the original PlanetGanja? I never got into the whole shark tank thing, but I swear until the day I fucking die I will hold a grudge against “Ethical Grower” for making me freak out and trash my entire grow. I hope karma pays him a visit.

    Anyone mix LEDs and HPS?

I have a roughly 7x2 (might be longer) closet that currently has three LEDs- a 600w sandwiched between two 1000w LEDs. (Edit) I didn’t have them installed yet when I took the photos.) I’m considering taking out the 600w and replacing it with either a 400w HPS or a couple more 1000w LEDs. For...

How Do You Sativa People Do It In A 4X4?

Late to the party, but I agree with you. That was very well written. It’s a bit amusing (and frustrating, and kinda sad) reading posts from people who have zero experience with any kind of basic gardening, and couldn’t tell a cola from a cotyledon. There are so many new folks who are eager...

Anyone know how to make easy soil ?

I guess you could plant directly into the ground? You might as well start saving up for the proper supplies you need to be successful in this hobby. It will cost you about $20 for potting soil (you can order everything from Amazon!), plus whatever nutrients you need, your tent, containers...

    Lollipopping?

I always trimmed off the bottom 2/3 of the plant. Those lower branches never amounted to much in my setup, so I cut them off in veg and used them as clones. y removing those lower branches, you are forcing the plant to throw all its energy into growing a massive top cola. It baffles me to see...

    Soil drench for gnats

I use mosquito bits- it’s the same product as the dunks, but it’s granular. Mosquito bits on Amazon I like to mix it in with my grow media, as well as add it to my hydroponic reservoirs. Don’t be surprised to see white fuzzy mycelium emerging from it, it’s perfectly normal and is harmless to...

The Lazarus Grow: my first grow in almost 18 years

Thanks! This isn’t my regular forum (I “grew up” on the original Overgrow) but I like the layout and the folks here seem nice. Believe it or not I have had lots of luck using this with my other plants. I’m curious to see how it turns out.

    Need help amending soil mixture

FWIW, I use a base of equal parts coir and Promix BX, hydrated with a gallon of water with 1/4 strength GH nutrients to start seeds. Fill up solo cups, plant seeds, keep moist and transplant them when they’re ready. I really like Promix BX and coir mixed, because it’s sterile and doesn’t harbor...
