it's not enough to KNOW that MG soil is crap. You have to actually make use of that knowledge and not grow in it.

brown roots is a no no in hydro. this means you have an outbreak of a disease. you don't want that. use h2o2, enzymes and root juice to fix this, but more importantly, get more oxygen to the water.

but how do you know he had "nute burn"? do you even know what "nute burn" is?

this DOES NOT look like a nutrient burn. Totally not. it could be lockout from overfeeding, but I don't think it is.

what's the soil? and what do you feed them and how much? did they recover and stay healthy for a while after you flushed them and cut back on the nutes? when did this start?

well, only one down side of it is that it still doesn't mean that 5.5 is the real pH of the soil. still argues well for the log argument yep. and what also argues well is that your plants are healthy. btw, i think it's much easier to just use coco. why don't you?
