I usually go to where the most trichomes are. More towards the top. I rip of piece off of a leaf that is closest to the bud and examine it under the microscope. I don't usually pick off actual bud. Good luck!

I am having a problem telling sex as well. I'm on 11 days flowering and still can't tell. As of right now 1 looks like male and 1 looks like female pre-flowers, but nothing is 100%. I also have waited well into 2.5 weeks. It sucks, but you just have to patient. They will come soon enough...

I water when the soil looks or feels dry. Having good drainage holes is definitely a plus. I water until I see the first sign of the water coming out of the bottom. Good luck.

Well you can pretty much flower whenever you want. 2.5 weeks should've been O.K. for vegging. It will probably take a little longer since you did veg so early. I have also waited this long before. You just have to keep checking on them everyday. They will surprise you one day with 2 lovely...

I agree with Mogie. No nutes for the 1st month. Start out with some starting soil and make sure heat isn't a problem in your grow room. (Probably not because you're using a fluor.)

Do you have any pictures? As long as the heat isn't a factor, you should be fine. Do a test with your hand and make an assessment. If it is too much heat, then move the lights back a little. Good luck with transplanting outside.

Here is an attachment of what mine looked like. I used 3 month slow release nutrient soil and the soil was going on 3 and a half. Everything was fine until this happened. Not sure what, but it had to be some kind of nute deficiency.

Warm white is more for flowering. Stick with some cool white, especially if they are still pretty small.

I am currently having the problem you are having and am also using an egg carton. I used starting soil and have used 2 cool white CFLs. They seem to be doing fine and should be planted some time soon. Good luck!
