Eh never had to warm up anything in the winter time. If you have enough panels, the heat is there! Different story when the outdoor temps reach about 40+ degrees in the peak of summer. What am I supposed to then? Run an AC around the clock? Besides I can't be at every single of my tents at all...

I think you're right about the genetics, some plants just tend to have purple stems but they seem to go away as the plant matures. I did notice purple buds, leaves and stems when I had plants growing outside out of season. Unsure what temperature they start to do that at. Under 20c is my guess
