You can set it up that way, it is AUTO setting, but there is a SMART setting that just slows it down instead. Its a really flexible fan it seems. And not really very expensive.

the cloudline fans are nice. i just grabbed a 6" temp probe cloudline and it's great. it gets left on 24/7 and adjusts speed according to temp but will keep some fresh air exchange at night...
