How do you mean best of the listed?
So how big area does it cover?

OF the three ^^^ panels you listed the CLW "800w" solarstorm is the best one IMO............NONE of them will cover a 6X9 area, 800w solarstorm will have the largest coverage (4x4 is pushing it) with it's wide lens angle and true 5w emitters.

Any way you slice it............covering a 6x9 is gonna cost BIG $$$ with leds

Ohh aint that nice....what you would recommend in my sitauation?

New to growing. Thinking of purchasing TaoTronics TT-GL14 80*3W 6 Bands Led Grow Light or TaoTronics TT-GL05 90W (45*3W, 135W Theoretically). Any suggestions would be helpful.

anyone get the feedback for BlackDogled???

They lie about their leds........how is that for feedback;-)

Skip that POS..........buy quality or go fluoro/HID/etc......IMO

There are no LEDs better then mine, so you make no point.

Not sure if your serious:-)

Looking to replace (3) HPS 600 in approx 11'x4' space with induction/red LED combo. (3) ibeams, (2) E-Effect 50, and a Flower Initiator would save 2 grand over (3) Inda Gro w/ Pontoons. Not quite as much light, but I think it would be sufficient. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Almost 400w less over the area than going with Inda.......idk, but you'll be stuck with less yields with that setup.....can always add a fourth I beam if necessary I guess.

You're right, that setup could be somewhat of a compromise, but a fourth ibeam would make up for it, and still save around $1,400.

I recently read the 93 page induction thread. RIP brother Kite High. He preferred the ibeam, on paper anyway.

It's great to see LED gaining so much acceptance here, but headache avoidance is a high priority. Induction looks to be easy on the eyes. I know they make the color-correcting eyeglasses, but I imagine those would get foggy when you sweat. I'd rather not have to wear any.

I'm getting ready to buy an LED grow light for my stealth cabinet, which is only about 2' x 3' and 5' tall. But I'm not sure which ones are the best in practice beyond all the hype. The ones I've read about are:

Area 51 (2013 model)
California Light Works
HydroGrow

and I'm strongly leaning towards the Area 51. (The reason why I prefer the 2013 model is that I don't want to burn my plant with the stronger 2014 model. The space in my cabinet is kind of tight remember. I also like having the red LEDs for flowering.)

Anyway, out of all the LED lights on the market, are there one or two standouts? Any other models that I should look at?

Area 51 is the way to go, it's footprint will fit your grow space perfectly.
I have one of their older 3W models and I get great results from it.
Not that it's a bad light, but I'd only go with California Light Works if you don't have the budget for Area 51.
I'd completely avoid Hydrogrow like the plague, they have a long, shady, history in the LED business.
Good luck.

Thanks for the info Bad Karma!

What about the Black Dog? Anyone know how the BD-240 compares to the Area 51?

You're welcome.
I've seen people get decent results with Black Dog, but their design leaves a lot to be desired, and they don't use the best parts.
Actually, I've heard that they're not completely honest about the parts that they use, but that's only what I've heard.
Others may be able to substantiate that more than I can.

Let me make this simple, and use a ranking system, for the major LED grow light companies out there.
Forgive me if I forget anyone, this is who I can recall off the top of my head, at the moment.

Apache Tech, Radiant, Area 51 - 5 Stars *****
Hans Panel - 4 Stars ****
ProSource, California Light Works, Grow Blu - 3 Stars ***
Black Dog - 2.5 Stars **1/2
Black Star, Hydrogrow, Stealth Grow - 2 Stars **
ProGrow, Ebay Junk - 1 Star *

2nd EDIT - Some evidence of CLW's effectiveness has surfaced and I can now safely add them back to the list, although at 3 Stars, rather than 4 Stars.

THANKS and +rep to you!!! Very useful. I never heard of some of those, so I'll have to look into them too. I'm feeling good about the Area 51 though.

How would you list them , 5 Stars , 4 stars ..........? Depend on ???

I can't decide between the new 2014 model Area 51 LEDs or the 450 watt LEDs from G8-LED. I have a 2' x 3' area but plan on upgrading to 4' x 4' and using two LED panels. Any suggestions?

If you're an established grower with journals on a site like this, you can get an Area 51 light at a substantial discount. You just have to agree to do a journal showcasing your results using their light. I just did this today and purchased the 2013 model at wholesale cost. If you've been growing for a while and have a bunch of journals here, just contact the company telling them that you'd like to take advantage of their offer. I provided links to all of my 5 journals from the past 3 years. They'll give the discount on either the 2013 model or the 2014 model.

Agree with most of this, but have Radiant and CLW really proven they deserve those spots?
I've heard nothing about radiant short of a 2 second mention in a youtube video.
And nothing truly impressive has come from CLW that I've seen--it seems like there's never really a instance I would pick CLW over something like A51/Hans. (Could be wrong about CLW, but its the impression I get/have got after being on here a while).

Thinking of using led in a 4x8x7 tent for bloom what leds can I get to give me the same results or better then two 600watt HPS ?

Money isn't really a issue just looking to lower my footprint while getting the same yeilds or better..
