Hello everyone!

I've been looking in to LED lighting for a while but never got that indepth in the subject. I am currently running a 1.2 x 2.4m tent with 2x 600W HPS and 12 plants hoping to pull 3oz a plant (usual crop) but heat and energy cost are an issue. If I wanted to replace my two 600W HPS with LED's, what would anyone recommend? I'm not on too tight of a budget and am really trying to pull the same quantity and quality with LED's whatever the startup cost, is it possible? What would I have to spend? How many of what would I need? Any help or advice offered is gratefully appreciated...!

Hello all, Iv got a question or two if ya dont mind bongsmilie

I was looking at these 100w LED flood lights, but all seem to put out a "warm white" or "daylight white" color temp... And I noticed just about all LED lights marketed as "grow lights" lean much more to the pink side of things. My question was would these cool/warm white lights still grow nice plants? Iv flowered under just hps and just mh and combo of the both (combo gave great results obviously) but the MH flowers were toppp shelf for sure with a lower yield.,,, these would be more like flowering with MH no?

^^ I was thinking these may be a reasonable alternative to pricy led grow specific lights.

In my googling I also found these color changing led flood lights for a reasonable price (maybe?)
You know my stoner logic brain went a bit coo coo when I saw this :eyesmoke:

^^ I think a single one of those would be cool for a test grow on a very small scale, just to see how plants reacts to the constant changing spectrum << purely experimental!

Let me know whats up :-)

:peace:

sorry for the bump, (40 posts a page) new page I didn't want it to be missed.

with those flood lights, they usually use the cheapest possible LED multichip/cob.
I bought 3 of them and they didn't work when I got them.

So, I bought 3 custom CREE multichips and drivers and used the Flood hood and replaced the cheap broken chinese ones inside. (go look at prev posts here or my thread)

I would say the color is MUCH less important than who makes the chip and its stats.

None of those panels will covert that area.......".800w" solarstorm is the best of the listed^^ bunch though.

Good luck

I could use some help.

I’m going make my own led light (seems to be cheaper and I don't need a huge light) but I don’t really understand what brand/type of led/driver/lens angle I should be getting?

Grow box is 4(L)x4(w)x6(h) (made for 2 plants) with a 40x1w red/blue (no len’s atm) and 80~ watts worth of CFL as side lights. The plan is to add/make a 20-40x3w (price goal is $50-75) red/blue light.

Or should I stick with 1w led’s?

They flat out didnt work? Why not try to return them for working units? Looks like the chips you mentioned are about 25$ a piece, is that the bulbs too? Im kinda confused.

have you looked into han's panels he even list's a diy on the grow forum linked on his led page. check it out www.Bonsaihero.com
I've seen people talk about them I'm sure there good but it's $240 2-3x my budget.

The DIY is what I was looking for but it's a little higher then I was hoping ($96.47@ ledsupply.com) is there a cheaper version somewhere? The LED's cost a bit more then I was expecting.

then get some Cree or Philips globes from home depot... Other than that you won't find any growlight for under a $100. You can get 4 clamp lights and 4 Philips led globes for $75. With Cree $15-$20 more. That will cover a 2x2. Other than that you can get a 400w hps package from any hydro shop for $100. Then just save your money. Keep in mind cost of soil , nutrients, pots, seeds or clones too
