Supercropping and Canopy Control

Thanks FM, I think I got a little scared from reading all the horror stories here about root rot and slime with high rez temps. Just my second run hydroponics, previous was with colder weather allowing me to cool it with airpump blowing cool air in rez, which now with summer temps doesn't work. So far so good, but I can only see a portion of the roots so can't be certain, and because it has a delayed effect, I'm still worried to wake up and find my plants dying.

Previous two cycles I switched from 400w to 600w once they were sexed, and they clearly improved from all those lumen. Now with the hot weather however, I may have to stick with the 400w much longer.

Yeah you have to make sure those res temps are on point, do you have a chiller for your res? Do you brew your own teas? I would highly recommend you do if your doing hydro. I dont run hydro no more only cause I like soil buds better. THey have more flavor IMO.

Shwag should love this pic of the knuckle croppin pr0n....

This bitch will have more knuckles then me in a month!

I only have 15gallons in my rez, a few more with the tubes included, so I can cool it down fairly easy with frozen bottles. Problem is with the 6 hours overlap where it's day time for the plants, daytime outside, and I'm sleeping, 'and' there's exceptional hot weather here (80f+).

Although a chiller was on my wishlist, it is somewhat of a luxury item in my case, I'd only need it for a few weeks, couple of months tops a year which relatively makes it more expensive than it already is. The rest of the year the temps aren't just acceptable, but ideal (68-70). I started out running sterile last round (bleach). This round I wanted to rely on Root Excelurator + acceptable temps only, which I've done the last 6 weeks or so of the previous run as well. Saving bennies for a future run (won't brew them myself though).

That said... the reason it's no longer on my wishlist is cause I just bought a chiller!! :D :D 1/6HP for my 15 gallons, 450watt, that's more than my veg bulb. Overkill, but I got a sick deal on one. Just tested in small container, now hooking it up to main rez.

I've grown on soil before, organics and even mineral nutes in the past. Both soil and hydro can result in equally tasty bud, depending on nutes, drying and especially proper curing, IMO. :) But the reason I grow hydro is just because it's more fun for me not because it's better (and when I see bio/organics on a menu in a coffeeshop I'm sold ;)). An added bonus is the superfast vegging, especially for cropping and canopy control, I get to play with my plants twice as often.

Just found this pic for another thread, my first attempt at canopy control, 6 years ago:

I think I made a mistake tucking my plant under the screen again cause I think she is flowering now for sure. Fuck!

Looks pretty awesome in the photos, what are you worried about? Not enough length above the screen? I never scrogged outside, seems hard to predict when to stop.

It's for 10 times larger aquariums than my rez+tubes content. Needless to say it's doing its job. :blsmoke:

Exaggerated by the flash, but that yellow on the right is light and/or heatstress on the runt. Only has about a square feet left now. The SK in the center in the front is the one I'm misting with Tiresias Mist (one branch) and it should be obvious that I picked the best plant to test it on. :eyesmoke: Found an 11-fingered leave as well. I hope she stays a happy girl after she grew balls.

Day 15 12/12.

Still stretched a bit, but they are less than half the size they were around this stage in previous run:

R u making beans
Yes yes :D Feminized beans. Tiresias Mist is a 'natural' alternative for colloidal silver. Going to make Skywalker Kush x Kolossus and Skywalker Kush x Chocolate Fondue. The first one I'm going to grow next round (gap between this and next cycle so got some time to ripe).

Where did you get that Tireslas Mist, is there a link for info?

http://www.drtsremedies.net/Tiresias-Mist-1-oz-bottle-PN10001.htm

I got it from eBay, cheapest shipping from the US I could find was $11, a little more for the bottle itself (17bucks or so). It's not sold in NL, we got a similar product called Lesbian Dream for years but I think that's just colloidal silver and hardly any solid reviews. Tiresias Mist is a natural product, so it doesn't poison the plant. There's info about it on rollitup too, I got some info from Trousers for example.

This is pretty much it though:

Mel Frank wrote in his guide: "The only difficulty to producing female seed is in finding an actual source of female pollen." And that's spot on imo. TM makes that "only difficulty" easy too (because you don't have to use a stress/natural herma but can mix your best females).

I misted a single branch in front of the canopy, after wrapping some paper behind it to prevent misting the other plants. Haven't found a single ball on the rest of the plant. I'll post a pic of the branch tomorrow, it's in a mini-closet inside a larger closet in another room on the other side of my house. Small bulb above it, still on 12/12, waiting for the balls and the bananas in them to open and drop the pollen.
