My 1st Grow. White Widdow in a bubbler

She looks good but she really needs more light.
If you had more intense lighting she wouldn't stretch
out like that and take up so much space.

I wouldn't cut off any leaves, IMO you should add more lighting
down the sides if using cfls or go hps and add some exhaust fans
for cooling in the future.

The plant looks great though.
Thanks. I plan to add 2 more cfl's this week.

Cool.
Im growing a GHS White Widow right now, I topped it and lst'd it
and it is a nice bush.

You should check out the techniques for your next batch, they will
help you keep the girls shorter and give a great yield.

Here is a pic of my widow so you can see what I mean. She is the one up front
about 2ft tall in a tent the same size as yours.

So the more light more thick and bushy it makes the plant?

I topped mine as well, but it still stretched alot, specially in flower.

Your plants are so dense! Awesome job man

Yeah they stretch allot in flower, the lst is what helps turn it into a bush
the topping just gives it more tops (which you can also do with just lst).

The more intense light makes each internode shorter so the plant is fuller because
it is not stretching for light.

I just wanted to show you another widow for comparison sake, hoping to
help you out down the road.

Thanks, it helped alot. Im going to try adding tons more light.

My next grow is Bianca. Seeds already popped and in an 18 gallon Bubbler. I plan to use everything I learned on the Widow grow to make Bianca perfect. I topped real early. It has alot more dedicated light, so I hope it comes out with short intervals between nodes and looks way more bushy. I cant do HPS, im in an apartment that has shitty a/c.

Thats ok, cfl's will do a good job. Lst will really help you out. It is a good technique
for growers who use cfls because they can keep the lights concentrated on the plant
rather then spaced out along a tall plant.

I topped my widow just above the second node and I got six tops to lst and play
around with.

Regardless, you're doing great. Armed with some extra tweaks your gonna do
even better.

Nice thread, thanks for the link. Doesnt look too hard.
With Bianca being mostly indica, will it make a difference? Shouldnt grow too tall right? Im not sure. There isnt alot of information on the strain other than how AMS describes it.

Thats the glory of lst, you can almost completely control the height, but it can
get away from you and turn into a really thick bush when you flip to flower. You just have
to keep spreading her out for more light.

Just remember your height restrictions and how much you expect them to stretch so
you know when to flower, and know that with lst you're going to take up more
horizontal space then you will vertical.

In the pics I posted, there are two plants behind the widow. The widow was lst'd and the
other two were just topped. As you can see the widow is wider than the 2 plants behind it combined.

Yea! Im currious to see how it finishes off Yield wise. I bet you get a great final product. Do you have an expectation of how much you will yield?

I am upgrading today, to about 22,250 Lumens of CFL light in my 4x4x6.5 tent. Im hoping this will be enough to get the buds more dense for the last month of flower. I would run HPS, but the heat and venting is an issue in an apartment.

Is that enough lumens?

4 x 55w (200w) 2700k cfls (800w total)
1 x 42w (150w) 2700k cfl
2 x 40w T12 4' 3000k tubes (I know T12 is not efficient, but it seems to help)

It will definitely be better.
The thing with cfls is it really is a trade off, you need more
bulbs to cover the plant, but each bulb you add also adds
additional heat.

Just watch your temps and if they are good then you're all set.

Im not sure what Im going to get from harvesting my plants, but if I could get 7 oz's off the
3 plants I would be happy with that.

Can you get the lights closer? Cfls can be really close to the plant.
The problem Im having is there are branches of many different lengths, so I just have them at the top of the canopy, and the long branches should hopefully slow down, and maybe the shorter ones can stretch to be more even.

Thanks for the compliments
