I think actually filibustering is pretty badass. I got sick of republicans threatening it without actually doing it and the democrats crying about the republican threats. I don't remember a real one. Anyone know the last time this actually happened? How long did it last? Jimmy Stewart is the only one I'm aware of.

I read that Paul claims it was spontaneous. He said that if he'd known, he would have worn comfortable shoes. He also joked about the real physical limitations (he had to pee).

It went down like this so many times; "if you try to do that we are going to filibuster" "well shit, we can't do anything, they keep filibustering everything". History will show there has been a record number of filibusters in the last 4 years but this is the first one I've heard of that was real.

Rand Paul got an actual debate going in the Senate about something very relevant, with illegal applause at the end. I think Rand may be the next GOP nominee. He has an excellent voting record, he is intelligent, and he's a good speaker. He may not be the revolutionary type, but he would at least move us in the right direction.
