Wasn't sure if it was similar to Iraq's 'Republican Guard' that also had members as part of a rogue unit for doing things that the government could deny, or something similar.. so there's truly no threat, and Ireland is over-reacting then, I see.

What I'm about to say is purely hypothetical, and in no way should infer that I have this setup at all.. but -if- I were to have a shotgun, and -if- I wanted defense rounds for CQB/CQC.. I would definitely have a Benelli M4 loaded w/12 gauge flechettes. Laser sharpened steel darts tend to turn people into pincushions and rip gaping holes in critical mass.. and can stop a group of gang members rushing a door with 1 round, maybe 2... the only issue is the ability to over-penetrate, and you wouldn't want to explain to law enforcement in most countries why you have shells that are not 'legal' per their definition of shotgun shell either.. catch-22. At the end of the day though, I'd rather be tried by 12 than carried by 6. No tolerence, no mercy. Best summarized with a photo:

Yea dude you hit me in the leg or my weak arm your still gunna get shot lol - people don't just fall over dead instantly when they get shot unless its in the head/heart/lungs, that's only in the movies.

I did mention critical mass.. critical mass = vitals.. what type of penetration are you looking for with a pistol/handgun?

Is why my 17+1 handgun has 3 spare magazines, and is why plenty of low light / reflexive / steel tree practice is a good idea, as well.

That is all true and more so with adrenaline and Kaat or PCP. But, double ought, to center of chest will kill you.

No one lives through that. And it may take some minutes to expires, but you won't be returning to consciousness, much less returning fire.

Well, those are NYC pistol stats going back in random sample to 1920s. But, I totally agree. The Leftists in Tinsel Town make these movies to make their points.

- one round will put the assailant down and out
- a good guy can take rounds and still fire back
- everyone has 90 shot pistols
- a shotgun blast will blow someone out a window
- etc

The industry is so stupid, stunt men have been killed with the blanks blowing skull into the brain. These so called Assault weapons are specifically designed not to kill. And the action reports through these last 10 years prove there there are a few humans out there that can take a couple of Ma Duce from 100 yrd and still keep coming.

The 150mm Beehive round is the best bet, in that case.

yea idk I thought about it a lot, in some emergency of course would have my pistol 1st but I think I would go for my ak before the shotgun if I had the chance, doesn't help my shotgun is a 27inch barrel and my ak folds up, I have a small house so its kind of a tight fit, that and my shotgun is a pump so if its more than 1 attacker, idk I am just more comfortable with the ak. I only ever shoot birdshot from my shotgun at skeet so not even sure what it like to fire the 00 I keep in it or fire at anything that is not an orange disk for that matter.

That's why you'd choose something else over it.

Nothing can do as much damage to a person as a 12 gauge up-close.

Try 1 shell of buckshot on an old Xbox or something, then see how a pistol/rifle matches up.

Id take a rifle for anything at range, but up close, gimme my boom-stick any day.

Run out a box of 00, just to see. It is very different, to me from a field load, say #7. And H will know but, I think I remember something like 9 pellets of .32 cal in a 12 g magnum, 00?

With a pump, that sound alone makes two attackers huddle together in fear, just to hear it. And they make an easy target that way. But, I will say this, if you can't shuck it one handed with either hand, go practice.

You could put on the tactical grips and stocks, but don't shorten the barrel below 19" (safe side). I have (strike that) I know of a Mossberg pump that loves me. The feeling is mutual.

But, remember Science of the Lambs? What happened to agent Starling's dad? Like sheer misses at close range with pistols, the short shuck can end it for you, badly.
