Gun Laws - Change Is Coming

More prisons? Great. We only house 25% of the worlds inmates. WTF?? This is America. Surely we can goose that to 35%

I'de like to hear your answer to this Rrog... replying to your theory that if everyone is armed who would pull out a weapon?

  • Hmmmm. I don't know... Maybe one of these guys that go and slaughter people and then put a gun to their own head...?
How does that play into your theory?

More guns is the answer just like throwing more gas on a fire will put it out. Nobody is suggesting that guns be taken away from law abiding citizens, but we sure as hell should have a system in place that allows us to determine who is a law abiding citizen and who is not. As it stands right now any nutball can go to a gun show and buy a gun no questions asked. That needs to change, and if anyone argues that then they need to have their head examined themselves.

And Rrog...

Say you are in a crowded mall... Guy #1 pulls out his Glock with 17+1, 3 more 17's in his pocket. He starts shooting people. #1 is just like the other mass shooters, he has every intention of going down with those that he takes.

Guy #2,3,4,5,6,7... pulls out his gun and looks for the shooter... the slower guy #8,9,10,11,12 pulls out their guns to save the day, about 5 seconds after 2,3,4,5,6,7 and 10 seconds after 1...
Guy #13-32 come running from the food court with weapons drawn, ready to take down the bad guy, about 25 seconds behind the first shooter, who is probably dead by this point...
Then the police show up... weapons drawn.

How do you think this plays out? I have serious doubts that gun fire stops when #1 is down. Not a chance...

Then you talk about kids with guns... jesus... the arcade empties... 12-16 yr old boys with S&W in hand come running to the scene? There would be 3x as many people dead as the original shooter had bullets on him. No question.

Say no one comes running to the scene... just the people in the crowded area where #1 got started... still... how does that play out?

We need criminals who use guns to kill innocent people right now as we speak to tell "law abiding citizens" if we are sane enough to buy guns?

How many lives were saved/lost with the Washington DC and Chicago "gun" bans?!?

You may want to float your theories across those realities before you go preaching that shit here.

^Yeah, prohibition never works.

Many people are saying this is a health care issue, not a gun issue. I can see what they are saying.

The truth is... these fucked up mass shootings are just a sliver of the gun deaths every year. When you are talking about 20 6 yr olds hit multiple times in 2 classrooms it really gets to people. Fucking terrible. Awful, awful shit to happen.

I do agree that the gun show loophole should be closed.

Will and motive of madmen is a historical question yet to be answered. Sad but true, both the disciplines of Psychology and Sociology only exist to study this question, but have yet to offer any true "answers" :-(

Here's one myth: If no gun is available, all potential killers will find another weapon. Sharp pencil, a rock, etc. A linear correlation is often proposed. That's just bullshit.

So... If a guy has a mind to murder a few that deserve it, give that fucker a gun or three!

Here's another beauty: Let's fix the gun problem.. with more guns. Let's make them exponentially more accessible. Clearly it's worked well so far, and I'm proud to say America is so far ahead of all other nations. What's a few kids sneaking off with daddy's 357? I mean in the big scheme, it's a small price to protect my God-given right to bear fully automatic arms.

People need to get with the program.

fully automatic arms are illegal..... and as you pointed out it is only minor inconvenience for a criminal, who has no care for the laws, to obtain one.

so lets outlaw all guns so that.... criminals who don't obey laws can still get them.

American is experiencing and acting on an emotion reaction that trumps all logic, reason, and evidence, such is the nature of the human.

Illegal? What a shame. You sure I can't go buy a fully automatic weapon? How come? It can't hurt anyone. Same with grenades. So I like juggling grenades. What's the big deal? I collect weapons of war and mass destruction. Somethin' I picked up from my dear old nana. I remember when she knitted my first flack jacket

I guess i should be more specific, to own a fully automatic weapon you need a class 3 weapons permit, requiring a lengthy weighting period, background checks, fingerprints, likely DNA, and who know what else, plus 300 or 400 a year to keep it. same permit required to be a member of a police SWAT team.

What about me the honorable and decorated war vet? I have a decade training soldiers all around this globe in fire safety for realz, to include my own wife in a combat zone :bigjoint: Can I/we have an M4 like I/we carried all those years just for recreational/memorabilia purposes? Would my daughter and neighbors be in danger or safer?

But why all that fuss? Weapons don't kill, only psychopaths run around shooting and blowing things up. I'm pretty stable at the moment and I promise to be good.

i agree, you can file for the permit at your local sheriff's office.

Stay safe =)

TheMan13, let me ask you this:

What legitimate reason would you, or anyone else need an assault rifle (or any other fully automatic weapon) for?

I do believe that was stated in my question ^^

Other than the local MJ question, I do believe I qualify for such permitting if I actually sought it today.

I own many nice hunting rifles, but I have never hunted again after becoming a soldier :-(

TM13, if you have one, then I have one. I'm not going to an assault rifle fight with a semi-auto pistol!
