Kicked Out

My parents kicked me out at 17. Lived in my truck for a bit then moved in with a friend for a couple months while I saved some money for an apartment. That was ten years ago and I Havnt been home since. They don't want me and I don't need them. My friends are more family to me than my family.

My point was simple... doesnt matter where you are you can moved forward. Just make the choice to do that... think about where you are and what resources you need, then find them... become self supportive, adapt to your situation. struggle, thrive... and that to hold fast to your morals and values will also pay off

I think there's more to this than laziness but we'll never know the complete truth. People have a tendency to wear rose colored glasses when it comes to their own behavior.

Got in an arguement over something stupid and my piss drunk anger managment needing father told me to get the Fuck out. Grabbed what little property I owned and left and I Havnt looked back.

it was the only way they could take my kids in. and so it was done.

I have empathy and compassion for sleeping in a car... on the side of the road, in an alley way, in trees, bushes, on the curbs of the streets, on top of buildings, in parks... I have slept in all those places... when it was cold and snowing, I snuggled up next to a warm wall of someones house to keep warm.... eventually the window opened and a sweet lady invited me in through the window to sleep in a closet

Of course he wants compassion. But if you've read his threads, there's something a wee bit stuffed herring in Denmark about the whole fragmented odyssey. The harder question is ... just what sort of compassion is indicated? To me it's looking more and more like "the sort that deliberately excludes the enablement component". Jmo. cn

i do see a lot of "good advice". which is probably all the OP was looking for. i really don't see what good blasting the guy does. it seems to me it is simply is to make the person doing the blasting feel better about themselves. how does calling someone a failure help in any way? i don't understand peoples motivation.

When I was going through all that last year, yes I desperately sought to reach out and express myself and get all the support and help and advice that I could. I felt the need to express myself on RIU, but realised it was inappropriate for my situation. Im glad I detached myself from RIU at the time so I could focus on the issues that needed to be dealt with.
