You dont seem to have a clue about real estate investing...

Here is an example of how it is done... You buy a house for 60,000 dollars. this requires you to put 12,000 dollars down and take out a mortgage of 48,000 over 30 years... That means your principle payments average out to about 1,600 per year. If you add 7% interest to that it is 1,680 per year. So a total of about 3,300 dollars per year or less than 300 per month. Now, add in taxes in a reasonable area and insurance and you are at 500 - 600 per month. You lease the property for between 700 & 900 per month and it is known as a cash flow property.

Why would you think anyone is pulling your leg about owning multiple properties? If you dont live paycheck to paycheck it can be a much better investment than throwing money into the bank or stock market.
