How is Mapito on multiple uses? I've seen it used before, but the main draw, in my mind, for perlite is that you don't have to worry about enzymes and cleaning it, just rip the roots out, dump it in a bucket, collect what's on top and then throw it back into the pot.

Also, mold and algae seem like they would much prefer Mapito over rocks like perlite.
I foresaw that too, that Algae would prefer mapito over perlite, I just cover mine with some 1cm - 2cm of Hydroton. Works perfect. Perlite is great in that way, my main reason is strictly down to the fact I need to lift my totes when watering and it can spill very easily, making a mess and sticking to lower bud.

I don't mind cleaning and treating it.

all the same , its just easier. I may go back, I doubt it.

That's funny, because in my mind, I feel like it's less work to rig some kind of ungodly multi-feeder tool with PVC pipe or hand water all of the buckets than it is to clean and clear something that porous every time you want to re-use it. That's one of the reasons I'm not interested in trying coco coir at the moment.

Then again I'm not running a SOG with 150+ plants like you, so hand watering my 24 doesn't seem like a huge ordeal. :p

(literally ) smoked a cheese joint next thing awoke on the sofa .... wtf ... not again. I must be super tired or this weed is super strong. I got the munchies so bad right now Its not even funny. Can't wait for my food to arrive. Damn. :eyesmoke:

re Mapito

I probably won't reuse it everytime (btw This is literally my first trial of it) I'll probably reuse it a couple of times max. I see it a bit like washing a dirty duvet in the bath. meh. This is not hard work for me compared to 'stuff' Ive done in the past. ...For years I carried bricks on my shoulder up and down a ladder for my Father whos a builder, it wasnt so bad, this is nothing really.

Ive watered these plants about 3-4 times tops since tiny seedling in rockwool. Ive been real lazy but growth has exploded. The most recent feed was the first feed where they emptied the res, they are beginning to get hungry.

it been like this.

First feed - adjusted tap water
Second feed - 1/4 strength nutes
Third feed - 1/4 strength nutes
Fourth feed - 1/2 strength nutes

Thats all.

I want them a darker shade of green, next time i'll increase to just shy of full strength.

If this was perlite, after 4 weak feeds like this, the plant would still be a seedling or worse.

please ignore the yellow hues caused by the HPS ... will turn that off for future snaps.

Real beautiful examples of the plant kingdom.

I really love all the intricacies of the flowers. I examine them like I would the brush strokes on a priceless painting.

The pistils on the first and second pic are really distinctive. Bravo.

stoner appreciation

Edit:
I cant wait for the opportunity to post some Bud shots.

it could be ust strain variation. if using rockwool ... choose Grodan. or a type that does not go soft when wet. not all rockwool is created equal.

btw ..... This is just a filler until I use older fully rooted bare clones which IMO works better . Using seed in SOG is not ideal but I wanted to get going.

@ Moe; That's some great growth in less than 3wks. That mapito seems to work really well. And you are correct about seeds being a little unruly, when space is limited. Well they kicked my ass

should my fan be on my seedlings 24/7? i think i had streched my seeds out too much in the beginning when i didnt have sufficient light on them. maybe thats why their growth was stunted. all my strains stems are thin, so i know its not cause of genetics, wonder how long it will take to catch up to yours.

I really want to see some of these packed tote grows through to the end. The plants per sf can't be beat for a sog. I like the way you have your setup Moe,,, long and thin so you have good access to all your totes. My rm is less accessible with one side open, like a 4x4 tent. I look at all that packed veg in a tote, & you still got 40+ days to go. Looks like this could be alot of work.....LOL.

I've been thinking of going the other direction, and go for one large plant. I'm contemplating getting a couple of small tents, 30 to 36 inches square. Then grow a single plant in a 7 to 10 gal hempy tote. Anyone have any tent brand recommendations, or better yet any tent brands to avoid.

Im going all the way to the end dude. Short of Armageddon in the next 6-7 weeks this is gonna get done. btw. ... Whens that Myan thing due? .. just kiddin'.

I'm going to pack it out in those tote boxes. They'll be an excellent horizontal carpet of green (and purple). Already from above you cant see any bottles, and under the canopy looks dark.

IMO ... I would love to run this on a waist high bench. They would all just drain into a single bucket underneath..

this is my first grow. and first of alot of things but ive been reading up on the benefits of defoliation especially in a sog style grow. anyone want to try an experiment with me? they said u can start it last week of veg then 20th day of flowering then 40th day. and so on. they said it creates more bud sites and makes buds more fat and bigger. even the lower buds so lollipopping is not necessary. even makes the popcorn bottom shitty buds big too. imma do half/half. see if it adds 20% in yield like they said.

Yeah, I'm up for that, I was contemplating the 420fied defoliation thing anyhow ... I'm already convinced in the power of letting the light through to the lower budsites. .... I incorporated some variation in some of the hempy's, like a soil hempy and no a few with no res. I'll present some findings shortly.

i want one now.. must cost a fortune
Possibly?

Thats more of a room than a tent. A room within a room. You could even nest them like Russian dolls. For Ultra stealth. lol. (Maybe not)

edit.

[h=2]Grow Tent – 9′ x 9′ x 6′ 11″ (w/ ext. 7′ 11″) .... $1,075.50[/h]
