Good weaker strains?

Yeah, this is an unusual question...most look for the most potent bud! But I am growing a freebie from Holy Smoke Seeds, and it is supposed to be around 11-15% THC, which would be low according to most folks. Hopefully it will mean I need to just smoke more, but still get a great high.

So how about it? Have you ever grown a strain that was somewhat weaker in potency but gave you a great high regardless?

BTW, the Holy Smoke freebie is Nepali Rukum, hope I'm not wasting my time with it!

skunk #1 is sopoused to be only 8% thc but i haven't grown it but I do got mr. nice's version going now. but I've smoked plenty of schwag and the high is just fine you just got to smoke more but its just not the same as a good indica I'd say probally cause most scwag is sativa. but 11-15% thc aint too bad conidering how many people like skunk #1 and some of the grows I've seen look damn good and frosty and if you watch the greenhouse grow videos on their site they claim around 20% thc but the best I've seen on their videos was only 12% and their growing from clone.

I find it odd that SK1 has such low THC level test scores, but I've seen them myself. As a fan of SK1 I'm not sure that you will consider the buzz weak. Have you looked into high CBD strains? The ratio of THC drops as the CBD rises. Those may be some of the weakest strain available.

Hope this all makes sense,

First of all the methods to test vary from facility and such , they are not the best to rely on if you are interested in the truth of a strain ...

Our beloved plant has Cannabinoids in numbers that we dont fully understand ourselves at this time . THC is the main one sure , but it is not everything youll find out .. Often a strain with a test reading of 20 % THC will not compare in potency to one that is only 15% due to the varied levels of other Cannabinoids ... Trichome production is not always what it seems with some strains , I have seen low Thc plants with High CBD levels that were just coated with trichome and surely most would think they were potent too and low and be hold they have no buzz ....Enjoy the Holy Smoke , it might blow you away ..............

most cannabis as a 20-25% total cannabinoids, the ones most know about plus others change the effect

I agree very strongly with the idea about Skunk #1. For some reason all of the properly grown skunk buds ive had have been excellent. Maybe they were a bit higher THC than what your looking for, but i would always ENJOY my high way more on skunk strains compared to others. Plus some, if not most, skunk hybrids flower fast and grow easily.

Cheese just happens to give me that same great enjoyment, which im sure is because of the skunk in it.

Top 44 grows very quickly and isnt known to be a major potency strain. Its also a skunk of sorts.

i have a strain that i keep around from world of seeds called Strawberry Blue. Its a strawberry cough crossed with a new blueberry line and it tastes and smells just like the name. I would guess that its a weaker strain, probably around 10-15% thc tops, but it is one of my favorite strains to smoke. I smoke a joint or a bowl and afterwards i am really high, but i find myself wanting to smoke more. I dont know if its because im not as high, or if its because i like how the bud tastes and smokes so much that i want to smoke more? Its a 50/50 hybrid and i will keep the strawberry blue around for generations to come. I recommend you give it a try.

Try Nirvana's AK 48. I know what you're getting at and I grew it a couple of rounds. It's sativa dom but a mid grade potancy. If, like me you like "up" rather than stoned, you'll like it.

i agree whole heartedly with this statement...

i look back to strains from say the 60s and 70s that get tested at under 10% on the average, and yet most of the people who smoked a lot of that bud will still say, oh yah, such and such bud, i had that stuff in 71, best bud i've ever had.. i don't think it's all nostalgia personally.. so that leads me to believe that there is more to potency then thc levels.
plus, i can't stand how news agency use those numbers to come out and say that the weed today is so much stronger, and therefore way more addictive, and how it's not the weed your parents smoked.. funny, aren't 90% of the strains today derived from things like skunk and haze?

so yeah, i simply don't pay the least bit of attention to thc level numbers when looking to buy seeds.. i prefer to listen more on what others have to say about it who have smoked it or grown it prior..
just my $.o2

First of all, using modern methods, a good rendition of Skunk #1 should test out at about 15% THC. Some of the better phenos can test higher.

No, that's not quite as high as some of the 20%+ "uber" strains, but its still quite potent. Remember, for quite a few years (and still in England) the term "Skunk" was synonymous with potent weed, the same way "Kush" is right now. The strain didn't earn the reputation of being super-potent by being weak or LESS potent than everything else around at the time!

Mix the medium/high potency with ease of growth and medium/high yield and you have a winner. And that's typically why Skunk #1 has pretty much ben THE "go-to" strain for breeders to hybridize with. It adds vigorous growth, yield, and toughness, without reducing potency much.

Anyway, to answer the original question, actually I think the Mexican commercial "brickweed" (/schwagg) fits the bill nicely. If grown correctly, indoors, seedlessly, harvested and cured right, you can get something with a good moderate potency and a really nice "up" sativa high. Best of all, the seeds are low-cost or effectively free, if you have access to the schwagg bud.

Downsides are, these are often sativa-dominant, taking a little longer to finish than many strains, and a bit stretchy. You also don't necessarily know what you're going to get in terms of growth characteristics until you've tried it.

Thanks for all of the replies. I am not looking for weaker strains on purpose, just wanted to discuss those that are not as potent but will give you the type of high you like regardless. You just have to get another hit or two, but the type of high is desirable.

which would you prefer, a strain that can get you where you want after 2-3 hits or a strain you can smoke all day? personally, i enjoy the High/stone, the act of smoking all day is a hassle for me, so i tend to keep the plant that gets me where i need FAST. one of them was Pandora's Box from tga, took me 2-3 rips from my bong to get where i wanted. Ig you smoke too much, you will notice it has a very high ceiling.
