Thanks for the clarification Cues.
I thought it had something to do with the wave lengths but I'm not an expert when it comes to lighting and unlike others on this forum, I don't pretend to be.
I think digital ballasts increase PAR as well, perhaps that also has something to so with it, I don't know.
All I care about is the fact electronic ballasts run cooler, are more efficient and give out more light.
Yeah, they don't actually increase the PAR on HID lamps but they do on fluros. However, what does PAR have to do with plant growth? Someone mentioned earlier that "it may appear different on camera, but it doesn't look that way in my grow room".

The point is, it may not look that way to him but how does it look to the plants? They don't have eyeballs and brains that can't keep up with the flickering so try to compensate so they don't get a headache. If my £20 digital camera can sense it, I'm sure the plants can.

I think what is needed is a side-by side grow with one digital and one magnetic ballast. Shared res and everything.

no its on page one abandoned or whatever . . .i simply agreed and interjected with you would have to know what PAR light is to post in advanced growing you're full of shit, no one mentioned PAR until I did an hour ago!

and to be considered a grower( and i guess i should have been more specific as i shoudl have said s grower worth his salt in NPK)

then you went and grabbed my photos and tried to get smart . . epic fail, ballst fail PAR lightfail magnetic hrz friend fail

you dont have to lie to kick it and the fact that you would lie about something so trivial as growing knowledge shows your character

a liar, who lies to make people think hes cool/correct/right whatever narcissistic reason

still waiting on the explanation of how to increase PAR light(you might as well just admit you were wrong so i can put it in my sig, cause this probably wont stop until closure of your misinformation has come, epic PAR fail, par for the course imo )
how do you increase par? cause i was under the impression that PAR light is a term and not a value to be increased . . its a way of measuring light spectrum usable my plants . . but ill listen to what you have to say as you take foot out of ass and put in head

so effin funny .
PAR:
Photosynthesis Active Radiation (PAR, measured in micromole/sec) is essential for plant growth. GE Lucalox™ PSL (PhotoSynthesis Light) high pressure sodium lamps are designed to produce the best possible PAR performance and this performance is covered by warranty.

Measured in micromole/sec, the increased PAR output of the Lucalox™ XO PSL lamp best simulates natural daylight to maintain plant growth under artificial lighting conditions. The PAR value of 400-750W LucaloxTM PSL products is on average 5% higher than the standard products.

Here's another website explaining the difference of digital ballasts and magnetic ballasts and their effect on photography! http://www.davidsatz.com/aboutflicker_en.html

And here's a video demonstrating the higher PAR output of a digital ballast vs a magnetic ballast.

how is that an explanation of how to increase PAR lighting but good try

PAR as a term of measurable light that plants use . . . there is no more or less it is constant lol epic fial advertising is what you pull up instead of tried and true science, but here you go

Photosynthetically active radiation, often abbreviated PAR, designates the spectral range (wave band) of solar radiation from 400 to 700 nanometers that photosynthetic organisms are able to use in the process of photosynthesis. This spectral region corresponds more or less with the range of light visible to the human eye. Photons at shorter wavelengths tend to be so energetic that they can be damaging to cells and tissues, but are mostly filtered out by the ozone layer in the stratosphere. Photons at longer wavelengths do not carry enough energy to allow photosynthesis to take place.

you are like a child with every tool in the world . . .problem is you have no idea how to use them

30 min later i get the best shopping capitalism version of what PAR lighting is . . . .so stupid guy doesn't even realize he just cited consumer products when a scientific definition is all there is

ya, i can

cells rigidity help in the transfer of nutrients from cell to cell, a healthy strong cell is a better plant more efficient
Are you trying to say turgor pressure has an influence on the the rigidity and stability of plant tissues or the cell walls themselves?

NOW CAN YOU PLEASE INFORM US HOW PAR LIGHT IS INCREASED AS A VALUE? PLEASE

waiting . . . . . . . .

been 20 minuets since i posted . . .. i answered asap . . . within 3 min . . . .
I already posted your answers!

Hey Sparky, I'm not the one professing to be the lighting and biology expert, that falls in your lap.
I just grow plants, I know and admit my limitations, apparently you are in the process of demonstrating yours!

its a catch22 . . .if you say you know something everyone goes . . link(hell i do it) then they go wiki warrior . . . if you know then are asked to present link then who gives a shit, if you jsut throw up links before ever even trying to express the informationon your own terms is another

to me WIKI is par infomation . . if you can find it on wiki it aint special . . .. .it should be common knowledge to the topic presenter

I have grown hundreds of plants outdoors and I was impressed by that greenhouse op, it was very cost effective, he was able to protect very well from bugs and they looked like healthy happy plants. Looked like they will be yielding well even though not so tall, that also takes some skill outdoors.

BTW Buck, how is that going, they must be nearing the chop eh?

I find it hilarious that the leftys actually think Obama is leading. The latest poll showed them in a dead tie for the first time. The swing state polls show Obama with about a 5% lead in those three states, but they oversampled Dems by 7%, right after they had a report less than a month ago showing Republicans enjoyed a majority of registered voters for the first time in decades. LOL.

I'm predicting a Romney landslide, despite the MSM's coordination with the administration. The 47% video was the best thing that could have happened for Romney, no matter how much the left tries to spin it. As a country, we NEED to say fuck off to those that keep voting themselves benefits at the expense of others. The scumbag teacher's union in Chicago is a perfect illustration of complete selfishness in the face of collective fiscal disaster.

i have been getting the stuff near the walls and am glad i did. it's been wet and misty and foggy here the last couple days and the walls have condensation on them. this would all be mold if i didn't pick it...

Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) is the amount of light available for photosynthesis, which is light in the 400 to 700 nanometer wavelength range. PAR changes seasonally and varies depending on the latitude and time of day.

Levels are greatest during the summer at mid-day. Factors that reduce the amount of PAR available to plants include anything that reduces sunlight, such as cloud cover, shading by trees, and buildings. Air pollution also affects PAR by filtering out the amount of sunlight that can reach plants.

PAR values range from 0 to 3,000 millimoles per square meter. At night, PAR is zero. During mid-day in the summer, PAR often reaches 2,000 to 3,000 millimoles per square meter.
How is Photosynthetically Active Radiation measured?

Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) is reported as millimoles of light energy per square meter.

Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) is measured by a silicon photovoltaic detector. This detector measures light in the 400 nanometer to 700 nanometer range. Looks like your own posts contradict your knowledge!

Now I'm no expert and I've made that very clear, but something tells me PAR can be measured in millimoles
and if the angle of the sun and cloud cover can effect the AMOUNT of PAR, it can surely be altered in indoor lighting!

you're the same idiot who thinks that minority rights need to be put to majority vote. you're a fucking idiotic douchebag.

realclear and 538 both have obama up by large margins. the 47% includes retired seniors who worked their whole lives, veterans fighting overseas, and by and large a huge swath of redneck southerners.

looks like you could have used more time with your "teacher's". dumbass.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think the yield on a giant tree is probably going to be greater than a non giant one. Beenthere's grow is perfectly acceptable in any measure IMO. Bucky just doesn't like the absence of chlorophyll in his smoke, beenthere does. different strokes for different folks. Personally I grow mine til they yellow out too.
