Anyone familiar with lighthouse's 270w blackstar chrome?

Seems like a new version for 2013 (didn't realize the world of led's worked like the automotive world, releasing model years a year ahead :) )? Some of their sales speak scares me a little, they mention with their new diodes, chipset, and lenses that this new light could be too intense for some strains. Are they just trying to big up their light, or are they just trying to inform their customers?

I'm a newbie grower and have been getting by with the clever placement of cfl's but think a very efficient led light would really help me out for flowering. Unfortunately, the cost of even the blackstar is a little prohibitive for me right now (this could be the straw that broke the camels back w the old lady!), but if I was absolutely certain with its efficacy, I just might risk it!

What strains, in your opinion and or experience could withstand very intense led light? Do I want to be limited like that? Would I have to pass up on certain strains only because they won't work under high intensity LEDs?

Thanks people, I'm having the time of my life.
Where is the love people?

What is this "google" you speak of? :dunce:

Seriously though, not seeing too much here about the chrome. If you've read interesting or informative threads in the past, linkage would be very appreciated :)

I'm trying a stealth closet grow. The tent is 36x20x63. I would like to LST 2-3 plants. However, I am not sure on which light set-up to go with. I was thinking of using (2) Pro Grow 180's, or (1) Pro Grow 260. Someone also recommended the Pro Grow 300watt X5 or the Pro Grow 260X. I am willing to check out any other brands, preferably something with a decent warranty. Which light set-up would you LED users use in that small of a tent? +rep for anyone with information.

if stealth is important to you don't go pro grow/there loud as Fuck IMO........you wanna go with a fanless design like rhinogrow......or go with panels that use low DB fans like California light works solar flare/plant phonics panels/Hans panel or even look at indagrow full spectrum induction (spliff is killing it with them).....good luck

blackstar 240w would do just fine in a closet (they do fine in my cab for noise). I'd keep it to one -- you won't need more than one for those dimensions.

My original Setup was a 250 hps with a 6 inch 165cfm fan? Would pro grow be louder than that? Thanks for the quick responses fellas.

I've got the 4spot blackstar chrome, what are you looking to know? plants seem to really like it but its got a narrow coverage area since its only the 4 spot and with the lenses they have they penetrate well but only cover about a 2ft area. very bright, very low heat emission, seems to be a good quality light

Has anyone heard or seen any grows with the pro grow 260x. Haven't seen much of it but I heard its a larger foot print with better penetration. I'm debating between (1)260x or (2) of the Solar Flare 200watt from California Light Works.

Thoughts?

Sorry dude, but I don't really trust the sellers. If I did I would just go with Blackstar. I would like to hear from people who have actually ran the unit. I really appreciate your help, but these questions aren't directed towards you alone.

As a LED user I get it, trust me I do. And I thought I was speaking for others as well but it's all good.

You want honest advice..here it is. I would not touch blackstar with a barge pole. They sell plenty because they are cheap and suffice, note the suffice!? I suggested the PG 260X because straight off the bat I could tell that would be enough light and the perfect size and configuration for you, having looked at a million panels it was an easy decision. You wanted experienced input so here it is, but something tells me that is still not enough for someone as indecisive as you, why ask for user advice when you will throw it out the window in favour of irrational " I want a blackstar "

What sort of crazy irrationality makes you think blackstar is the right choice? Money me thinks. You said you wanted to do it right so spend the money and get good quality panels regardless of them being 2x or a single long panel. Did you bother to look at the evo4's. Perfect for you yet you hover over the blackstar.......incredible!!

Okay my rant at you is over. Take my advice or leave it. I'm out.

PS. Many of the sellers are reliable enough and their websites.
