when is the right time to start flowering?

my plants are 5 weeks now and are 7-8inches-8nodes but they're side branches are still forming.. should i start flowering next week? or wait a little longer? gave them organic nutes for the 1st time last week and they love it [yea mandala's strains, ive followed their fertilizing guide] ima light feed them some bloom nutes the day after tomorrow

most people flower after 4-8 weeks of vegetative state. if you keep vegging sidebranches will keep forming non the less. it got nothing to do with when vegetative state is done.

When to flower is not just a general question, but actually depends on factors in the grow room, specifically what size light are you going to flower under.

The bigger the light, the longer you can go before flowering.

Using 6 1000 HPS? Veg that bitch for months if you want.

Using old 40 watt tube fluoros? Your plant is already too big.

i have 4 satori, 3 NLxAfghan, 1LSD & 1JHauto[showed sex already 2 weeks ago] and this is my first ever official indo0r gr0w[yea i itched for a multi strain grow lol]
so do i still have to wait until the side branches grow enough? or should i tie them leaning a bit to focus some light on those areas? i dont want to really LST them for now maybe for my next grow i will

satori is a sativa dominant hybrid who need abou 10-11 weeks of bloom ( some phenos 9 but they are more 50-50 inica sativa)

how bis is your area and what pot sizes? 9 plants under a 400w is a little much unless you are going for small plants/sog style.

Also the satori only comes in regular seeds righ? the sidebranches will turn to budsites but will stretch somewhat. personally i like few big lst'd plants over sog style. but it all comes down to the size of your grow area. also your auto will get dimmished yield from swapping to 12/12

Depending on your area you probably should aim for the 1 cola style.... if you are going for big plants, remember that each plant needs about 100w light.

4x4x8 cab bro they are in their final 3gal pots now and hoping for a maximum of 5-6 girls well i guess ima tie them so they lean a little focusing some light on those branches to be

You should try getting your plants to a hight of at least 45-60 cm imho. also, you should top and LST the shit out of them (not the auto!).
definitely throw in more lights! 400w can be used in that tent size, but it is on the low side and you have WAY to many plants in there for a 400w to cover that shit!

A quality 600w bulb can give you almost twice the amount of lumens for only 200w more.
Another good option would be if you get another 400w ballast and go 800w mh/hps combo.
You will not regret it! ofc its
gonna cost a bit extra BUT if you use IE a 600w for bloom 12/12 it will consume the same amount of energy as a 400w in veg 18/6.

600w X 12 hours = 7,2 kwh
800w X 12 hours = 9,6 kwh

Ofc you could always put in some 25w cfls to get a bigger lightprint. thats probably the cheapest way to go. but with HID light you get better yield and quality.

thanks bro sure il do 400w MH/HPS combo or drop in some cfl's mid level to reduce heat though i have an a/c running every now and then im guessing im right on target i suspect 4of7 to be girls the rest looks male but who knows? but i would love to have some males for making some extra seeds if cloning fails thats why i made another 3x6 room in another area

You can start flowering whenever you want...it just depends on how much room you have because some plants can get 3x larger during flower than they were in veg, but with a little training you can take down on the upwards height if that is an issue. But you can flower a 6 in clone, or a 6ft tree, it's all the same in the end, only one is little and one is well, big...

The plant will continue to grow vegetatively until you switch the lights to 12/12...so as long as it is on 18/6 or better it will keep growing and growing, with more side branches and top branches and bottom branches...it is a plant still.
