Dog in my neighbors yard crying/barking since last night...

Fuuuuuuck, thing woke me up again this morning at 6:30.. It'll crybark for an hour straight, then stop for an hour, then start up again.. I was watching it yesterday and it seems like it only does that for attention. One of the guys walked over to get his clothes from the clothesline and it fuckin' started up for 45 minutes after he left! Then just goes and lays down in the 6' x 6' space it's got. It's a big dog and that's definitely not enough space. I haven't seen it unchained the entire 3 days I've been watching it. That's gotta be illegal right? There are also a few other dogs over in another part of the yard that seem to be roaming much more freely than that dog.
Wow, I can't believe they have other dogs. I hate people like that. Why would you want dogs when your just going to chain them up in the back?

I`ve seen dogs chained up for months dude... They will not tend to its need (like the peoples dogs who were fucking my ears) because they belive that it shouldn`t need that. Hence they belive it shouldn`t be barking. Simple as that.

Some dogs eventually give up, and some just go neurotic and bark all their lives (experience). There was no aminal cruelty service around where I lived and it was just that way, people owned them were my fucking relatives...

I`m sorry to say these people don`t give a damn about you, or their dog. I don`t think it will shut up if they walk it every other day either. Try asking them, I doubt they will listen to you dude.

They sell a megaphone speaker type device on Ebay for about $30 that has a laser pointer and sends high powered ultrasound waves at a target, therefore hurting the dogs ears quite a bit... I was considering this but then I left home for university. Might be your only option dude :)

Mind you, the sound of an incessantly barking dog would drive me nuts. However the situation Pad describes is especially awful. If it were just a bored but otherwise decently-kept dog, i'd consider that ultrasonic device. In this instance, however ... no. I could not morally balance my peace&quiet against the certainty that I am removing that dog's only form of dealing with its situation. I'd surely be driving it insane by force-shushing it, and i might even get a paradoxical worsening of the noise. Difference is, I can choose to ignore the noise, wear earplugs etc. while that dog is in a no-choice scenario unless/until the authorities are finally interested. So my opinion is: don't punish the dog. cn

I agree. I would get the authorities involved. Fuck those people.

I'd kidnap him in the middle of the night and take him to a shelter a little ways away.
Say you found him in the road.
You and the dog both win.

It's the owners who are assholes, the dog does what a dog would do in that situation, I'd do the same thing. You can't lock a fuckin' full grown pitt bull up in a tiny ass enclosure for 3 days straight, that's inhumane as fuck.

I haven't heard it since this morning, so we'll continue to see how this goes.. If it wakes me up again tomorrow I'm probably going to call someone to go check on that shit. The last thing I'd want is for somebody to come take it to a shelter to get put down, is that a possibility?

Under the circumstances, it might be a mercy. Very few rescue adopters have what it takes to bring a dog back from maltreatment, esp. ultraloyal breeds like pits. They go deep nuts. cn

Some shelters are kill shelters and others are not, just figure out the closest one to you and call and ask. FYI if it is a pit bull the no kill shelters wont take him . That breed has a very bad national rep like dobermens used to. Here were I live a friend of mines pit barked and ran at the mail man. This is a nine month old dog, the mail man called the city they took him away that night had a hearing 48 hours later and put it down. No bite, no nothing, they kept it at the shelter and the ACO wrote a report that he felt it could be a danger and zap.

Whats so damn hard about talking to a neighbor or or two, or even knock on their damn door? Guess ppl are afraid of reprisals. Sad, at times, the world we live in. I would have called the cops on day two let em talk to them. You do know the owners are there right??

You are right and the worse part is the damage done to that animal can be irreparable.

Yes it's possible it will be taken to a kill shelter but it's not necessarily a bad thing. There are worse things in life than death and spending X years in solitary confinement will not only drive an animal around the bend but make death a blessing. There is only so much you can do and its obvious you are very caring. Sadly it's the people who care who are usually hurt the most.

Are you their only neighbor?

How will they know it's you that called? Cops aren't supposed to say who called or complained. So if you haven't said anything to them yet, they shouldn't even know that it's you that called.

Jesus fucking christ. Just go get the damn dog. Are you in SoCal. If so I will go get the dog. Grow some balls and deal with it. The dog is being abused, yes being tied all day is abuse, so go get it. Just because the owners are some ignorant beaners is no reason to be afraid.

As for the doggy tough guys, fuck you. Bunch of punk ass kids.

Best advice EVER! Ok here's what you do Padawanbater2, get a good video camera, give this guy the address, tape ensuing hilarity. Either the police will beat him down, the neighbors will beat him down while calling the police or the dog will take off his arm and beat him to death with it. Post video of hilarity on YouTube, video goes viral you smile all the way to bank.

If that's what it would take.
