I have a small clear slime problem, with about 2-3 weekstill harvest. I have ordered some 30% H202 and Hygrozyme to help fight it. I receivedthe Hygrozyme today and it says it’s ok to use with H202. My question is whatdoes Hygrozyme do? And to use it just follow the directions and add 8-10Ml pergallon and it will not interfere with anything? I have read the bottle but its doesn’treally say what it does or how it does it, can anyone who has experience withthis product give me some basic advise or experience you have had with it.Beside the one Rez with slime... Should I also use it in the other Rez to helpgrows and/or prevent slim? I am just not sure what this product does, the bottledose not say a lot. :cry:

Why did I buy something that I am not sure what it does, becauseI am cleaning my roots each and every 24 hours with H202 (3% atm) to keep theslime down but the plant is starting to suffer, so I will try anything. Yes I have read up on Tea.

Hygrozyme breaks down non-living organic material, which includes dead roots. I really don't know why it has a reputation for fighting root disease, seeing as how it makes slime worse.

100% agreed.... I had the slime, now I don't, thanks Heisenberg. The link is here.

P.S. - You can use Great White if you don't want to make the tea but it will be pricey to keep using it. I use Great White in my tea and a $30 bottle is going to last a long time this way. I originally used just Great White and that pretty much cleared up my slime problem but the tea has a much more diverse ecosystem of bacteria, mychorizae, fungi, and trichoderma. I now use the tea WITH the Great White and I have not had the slightest hint of slime and my res stays at 76 degrees constantly with my water chiller. There is no need to run it any colder or to use any H2O2 anymore. I can't recommend the tea enough.

Hey I dont mean to highjack this thread but I have great white I quit using cause I had to go back to H2O2 and i can't run both right?

You could add h202. wait a half a week then add the great white and by then the h202 shouldn't cause it problems, Any input heis?

Hygrozyme is horrible in hydro. It will give you even more slime. The only cure is mychorrizae (Great White) and beneficial microbes. H202 may kill the slime for a day, that's it. It's an archaic method to fight disease. When you use fungi or microbes you need to stop the H202 as it kills organic life.

You can find instructions for cleaning up roots in my thread, first post. I personally would not clean them up that late in bud. You are not going to get too many new shoots before harvest. I would just throw some tea in there, or just plain aquashield if you can't make tea.

i use hygrozyme in conjunction with 35% h202 when i see a lil funkiness on my root system. my preferred method when i see a real problem is to spray the root system off with a high pressure sprayer, use a utility pump to suck all the shit outta the container, then use 4-5 ml per gallon of hygrozyme and 3-4 ml per gallon of h202 for my next couple change outs. i top off throughout the week with ph'd water containing 3-4ml h202 per gallon. frequent change outs don't hurt either. in my experience the h202 sterilizes the medium while the hygrozyme helps break down the funky parts of the root system and stimulates new growth. there are plenty of ways to combat this problem. from what i've read on multiple forums heisenbergs tea seems to be an effective measure as well. hope you win the war buddy, good luck.

Gotta disagree on the hygrozyme not working in hydro- I had an entire grow die when the slime took over and roots started to rot. Had some huge widows going too and it really pissed me off. Hygrozyme has digested the dead stuff and kept things growing well. You have to aerate though real well in your tank to keep everything going and change the rez out when the ionic strength gets too high ( I use 200o as cut off on my Hanna meter ) or every two weeks in veg and week or two in flower. I havent had to use HOOH since.

No one said hygrozyme doesn't work in hydro, nor did we say it doesn't prevent disease, we said it tends to make slime worse.

If you use it as part of proper res maintenance it may work just fine, but if you think you can dump it into a slime infected res and cure it, you'll end up sorry.

Sorry bro, I didn't even see you posted before me until today. Thanks for the tea, it's working out wonderfully. I put some Insect Frass in because a guy at my hydro store said it would be good but I don't think I am going to do it anymore because it started to make my garage smell funny.

Do you think Aquashield is better than Great White?

They are both great quality products, but GW is much more diverse. Aquashield is probably enough to prevent disease, but if you want to fight disease, go with great white, or better yet, mycogrow soluble, which is identical to great white, from the same lab even, and a bit cheaper. If aquashield is all that is available, it will help and may even cure.

I have been running a test with just aquashield add 200ml to 55gal. Every three days.
been 4 weeks and no signs of anything bad! And the roots are buano :)
