yeah i have deep cycles for my boat... expensive batteries.

ah i see the trench could get expensive if you are rural i guess?

no problem there for me though i would just dig my own and lay all my own conduit etc and just leave the connection up to the leccos

nice one on the panels.

I'm getting the house that I buy full of panels on top...why pay for power when you can just get it for free...(well will have to pay for them first, but that isn't a problem - on going power bills are a bastard when trying to pay a mortgage).

see most ppl that got that solar rebate only have a system that saves them power during the day when the suns out and for that price it doesnt go to the grid.. Alot of ppl do have it back to the grid but you arent using solar... U are using mains and they come round and read the metre for your house and solar and then work out the difference and bill ya or you get credit or a cheque

Just depends where you are for the price of back to grid.. Most elec cables have to go down 5m. And then u have council paths and shit to dig up and even harder if you got underground power.. Went thru that shit at our last house on the sunny coast... Was gonna cost $10,000 to 15,000 grand more

yeah that is how I thought it rolled...

You just use mains but have something on top of your house that earns you money against your power bill...

Most people who got that rebate didnt even get batteries ,, str8 to the inverter and that was it . Saved ya on your standby costs on appliances and if ya used alot of elec during the day and thats all it saved you.. My mate was doing installs for company till he fell off a roof

Thats it ome.. But there you can have i run many ways depends on how much ya got to spend.. You can have it so you run of solar and ya mains as back up and if you are creating enough you can send the excess back to the grid to make ya self a few $

in fact i have worked on construction of electrical substations and even the biggest of the big cables are only 1.5m down but they are encased in a thermal ballast

I thought it was a metre max but i was told 5m..Might have just been how they had to do it at the last house not sure but yeah i thought a 5m was excessive to say the least

probably just said that to make some extra coin... I was away when they dug it so not sure if they even did go that deep

lol if they went that deep u would know. every 1.5m u go down u have to go 1m wider for safety. so a 600mm wide trench 5m deep would actually be 3.6m wide at the top. there would be an extra 10m to the side of the trench which would have been covered in fill dug out of the hole which no matter how good they are u would know there had been dirt there and to get that kind of reach down into the hole they would have had to have floated in a 20t digger at least which would have made a mess of the street and footpaths etc not to menton if there is any overhead services it wouldnt have even been allowed into the area because of clearance issues.

5m is a major excavation usually reserved for underground construction and mines etc.

fair enough . were returfing and lanscaping the front so i really couldnt say but if they had to go that wide and that big of an exsca theres no way the dug 5m unless i got it wrong somehow.. he might have said 500 but i didnt hear rite... not too sure but yeah if thats how ya do it they cant of
