Sort of, since I work at home and my desk is on the deck across from my chamber, I stare at it all day whenever I have a spare minute and dream of how to improve it... I think I really like my new hobby- it definitely gives me pleasure, and I enjoy the challenge and learning experience it is providing. And I know it's only a matter of time till I get some awesome tomatoes and other thingsGreat job Tb!!!!!!!! TB just to let you know spray foam once it`s hard leaves no toxic effect i have used it on the back wall of my salt water tank to make a artifcial reef growing corals on it and keeping fish and never had a issue or toxic effect..........300 gallon tank with a 100 gallon sump http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2003-08/nftt/index.php Also consider removing your plants placing between a couple of damp towls until foam becomes hard if you are worried about the fumes or just raise the lid and go for it cures really fast...........

Thanks Hammer- that's good to know... I read some bad stuff, saying even a long time after curing the gasses were coming in through people's walls- but I also realize some people are overly cautious with no scientific backing to their claims, and I'd venture to think fish are a good litmus test...
I think I am already settled on my exterior insulation idea. I realized with my current setup even insulated but without added cooling, and the temps being what they are here, I will never get much cooler than the ambient temps, and they are 95 on hot days. It's just not acceptable. I considered a swamp cooler idea, but the high relative humidity also negates any benefits there as well. I figure with good insulation, and my small 1/5hp chiller- it won't take much electric, and will give me absolute control on the rootzone temps, and we all know I am a control freak when it comes to aero... hehe

TB, Have you thought about using a heat exchanger inside your pod after you insulate? Im assuming you have a chiller that you have been using to reduce the temps of you nutes?
The thing you need to watch is the throw of the Tefen nozzles, The mist isn't pushed very far into the chamber. I still haven't tested the DIG on really short cycles.
Yes, salt water fish are a really good test for toxins, I think knowing the brand of the spray in foam would be useful, each manufacture has a specific formulation.I'd venture to think fish are a good litmus test...

So, the combination of higher temps & alot less light has got me to the point where I think I can throw these bitches in my rig, & give it a go. I had to modify my lids a little, as I will be just droppin these cups in, and not using my 4" custom pucks. Oh well. I figure I gotta do some family stuff tonight & tomorrow, but I don't see any reason I can't get these things in this weekend. Unless anyone thinks I should let em get more established. Roots are starting to poke through here & there. I keep them misted inside the humidome, and you can see some fuzz in one pic. I want more of that!

Yes, but worried it will get condensate and be a wet spot for roots. I believe chilling the whole pod from outside it may be the best idea, especially since it needs better insulation...

Well as just explained, I messed up the roots the other day. The heat is causing them to grow very slowly anyway (or so I guess that's my problem). Finally got the time to catch up completely on the thread. Phew, thats a lot of reading. I got a question for TB. With your test of the cloud top nozzles, did you notice any difference on the mist throw from the different colored nozzles. i.e.. did the white 80 degree nozzles throw farther then the red 115 degree nozzles? Also how far did they throw mist? I'm trying to figure out placement of misters and the number of misters needed to fill a 4ftx4ftx2ft chamber. I want to do 9 misters from the top shooting down and 8 misters at the corner walls shooting down the sides of the chamber. Basically 2 misters shooting at each other from 4ft away down each wall of the 4x4 cube. I just want to know if the mist shoots out at least 2ft from the misters. If it does, my design should work perfectly with .5 sec burst to get close to 1ml/100L. Thanks man. Happy Turkey Day everyone!

TB, et al, these pics are the plant that I had in HPA, but the roots weren't growing. I compounded the problem by dunking them several times a day, which caused them to stick together, thereby not providing the mist with a place to land.
Quite the comeback, I'd say.
FYI: The brown roots were what I started with before moving from HPA back to the bubbler. Also, she has grown a bit taller now ~ 14", plus, side branching buds are growing at each node.

Wow the soil temps are warm there. Sounds like a good plan with the lights but if I remember correctly you could have the lights pointed at them from any angle and it will keep them in veg state. So maybe sit them on the side then you won't have to mess with them
