I don't know, hopefully later and not sooner than I expect,
Chinese people would like to have stuff to so they can consume a whole lot if allowed to, meening domestic growth can keep their workers busy, especially with a one child policy, meening in the future they will have a smaller workforce- especialy if their were some conflict that further lowered their working age population or prevented them from reproducing
They are collecting Gold and Silver as well as mineral and oil rights around the world
Their people also have very low unemployment and positive savings
China does not need to manufacture and export plastic dog poo and Ginsu Knives in exchange for our paper dollars and bonds forever

The problem is with the growth model that China's development is founded upon, they are damned if they do, and damned if they don't.
Most Chinese make severely low wages, on par with that of sub-saharan African countries. They can barely afford to feed themselves, much less buy crap.
Their government may be trying to swoop up gold and silver (they are the leading producer of gold in the world now), and "claim" rights to certain sea-borne deposits, but they by no means have the power to actually exploit the resources of those claims in contested waters with the US Navy watching their every move.
And, if China wants to continue to grow, they have no choice but to produce the plastic dog poo and ginsu knives...
China is nothing to worry about. They are in this mess and just as fucked. They are the only reason the dollar hasn't collapsed already. They continue to buy bonds because they desperatley need Americas economy.
The people to worry about are the ones that just stole two soverign nations and are activley working on a 3rd. They are going to do the same thing here, they are well under way and many would say hypothetically it is already done.

They are not going to need our currency, they will depeg the yuan from the dollar and have a gold backed yuan that will take the place of the dollar as the world reserve currency and they will broker oil and food deals in yuan
they will focus on domestic consumption instead of export and if they had a war it would keep their economy going and unemployment low
This is true but they cant do any of that right now. They need the American economy to buy all their crap and consume all their metals. In the meantime they will help float America as long as they can while also protecting themselves.

Sigh, these fears of China taking over the US are from people who ignore history completely.
Remember about 70 years ago when we were the number 1 producers in the world. Then we got rich and said, "fuck it, I don't want to pay to have shit built here, I'll outsource it and get it done for cheaper overseas." What makes you think that's not going to happen in China?

That is what is going to happen- and we will be stuck working 80 hours a week to make sneakers for them
I don`t think they are laughing. I think they are scared shitless. The writting is on the wall. If our economy crumbles so does theirs. It is more liley they are conspiring with our leaders to keep the scam going, I hope thats the case anyway. There may be war with China in the future, but it wont be Chinas wish, it will be our owners wish.
