Just wanted to say that I did it. I decided today that I am addicted to nicotine and that I am tired of waking up with the cough. Slapped the patch on and I am going for it. I already feel better. Last time I made it 8 months. Going for good this time.

I'm addicted to nicotine so i bought a magic flight box, didn't work, so now i'm saving for a volc. I will quit through spending lots fo money! :D

We've had those types of pictures in the UK for years, doesn't do jackl shit, now they're trying to force cig companies to sell them in plain white boxes with a standard black identifying label because it's the glitz and colour factor that is hooking the young uns

This is what's on my one right now, how is this meant to disuade me? pretty much everything people enjoy in life these days is gonna make you die younger.

There are indeed much much worse, but none fucking work, just intrigue me

When a friend of mine was studying abroad, he sent me a picture of the cigarette packs they have there.
Infected mouths and lungs and shit.

My hands would get hot and red all of the time. So red that it looked ridiculous.
I quit 2 months ago and it completely went away a week after I quit, so now I have no desire to smoke.

But did you quit because of warnings and pictures or did you quit from hot and red hands?

So packs over there might have the saying "Smokers die younger" with a pic. Whoopty do.

Drivers die younger too. Fuck, may as well embed that in the drivers licenses of new drivers.

Gang bangers die younger too. Should they embroider that on red and blue hankies?

Drinkers die younger too.....and on and on and on.

It will work for some. The majority...nope.

I chew. The warning on my can is, "WARNING: This is not a safe alternative to cigarettes". OOOkkkkkkkkkaaayyy. Thanks for letting me know.

As a Male, I would just buy the ones that said "Low Birth Weight".
That's funny. I can just imagine you go to the store to get some smokes. The guy hands you a pack with a messed up pic on it. You say no not that one. Here's another one. Nope not that one. Here's another one. Nope not that one. Finally something acceptable to you. "Low Birth Weight". Ok I'll take it.

I don't smoke personally and don't like being around people while they do, but the tactic the FDA is using here is not much different from that of PETA showing dead animals in brochures to school children. While I hope it works to deter younger generations from harming themselves, I really doubt it's going to. If anything, the children will be drawn in by the images. I always wanted to see gory shit when I was a kid. They'll be the new Pokemon. Gotta catch em all!

HAHAHAHAHA, ah that amuses the fuck out of me, as someone that's stood there and served packs of cigs, i could totally imagine it and it would make my day, i think there's one in the UK that sais smoking makes you infertile, pack of those on a friday night, yes please! I could just imagine some little kid using that as a defense to his parents when his gf's knocked up haha

Smoking by pregnant women may result in fetal injury, premature birth and low birth weight.

does this mean "by" as in pregnant women smoking?
or literally "by" as in smoking around pregnant women?

I see nothing wrong with putting a gruesome face on a horrible product. (I am a smoker) Something needs to be done to combat the idea that tobacco is relatively harmless which is implied to young people by it's wide acceptance and market saturation. Education and awareness seem to be prudent tools, and reasserting that awareness every time you reach for a pack seems fine with me. It's not fair to the tobacco companies to force this, but life isn't fair; life is short. What is unacceptable is spreading misinformation and lies in the name of tobacco awareness, or encouraging oppression and exclusion, which is what a lot of anti-tobacco ads do. No end justifies the means of deceit and manipulation.

Ultimately I believe people have the right to make bad personal choices, I just think they should fully understand the decision they make.

The way the UK governemnt is campaigning, both, they've now been bringing out studies about the danger of thrid hand smoke, that is to say even if you smoek outside, when you come abck in, all those bad bad particles on your clothes or whatnot, baby killer!

Fully agree with you heisenberg, just don't think this is the way, i mean we get shit loads of constand sex ed at shool and whatnot, we're all taught about std's and how they're gonna ruoin you life, yet when i was at school i think we spent 15 minutes talking abotu smokers and that seemd literally for the staff to work out which students were the smokers to keep an eye on and punish

Looked up at that it's just a reply of red squigly lines, bad grammar, bad spelling, fuck it :)
