Do we care to coddle traitors that betray the trust of the American people? Think of it as a model to follow for those that are caught red-handed in treasonous activity. What purpose has wikileaks served? Manning had a chip on his shoulder and loose lips, both traits made him a horrible choice as an "intelligence" officer. He is paying the price, BOO-F*ing-HOO for him. He is lucky to be alive, Lincoln would have executed his ass without a trial...yet our government has stated that it will not seek the death penalty...he is getting off easy with plenty of time to reflect on his poor judgement and decision making skills.
He gets absolutely no sympathy from me. They have his fucking own admission. Does anyone here think that they dont have his ass in a sling? HE PUT HIMSELF there! His own friend turned him in. Good god.
The dude betrays the country, jeopardizes diplomatic efforts and American lives, then has the balls to admit it to his friend? And we are going to squabble over his "rights"? What about the multitude of people that have had their lives ruined as a result of his careless and borderline retarded actions? Media-fucking-circus that is not really focusing on the actual issue, but events surrounding the issue. Fact of the matter is that Manning fucked up. What more to it is there to be said?
What is true at this point is we just don't know what is true.
Perhaps Manning is guilty still, we America, need to hold to a high standard of law especially if this is a solder of conscience.
So let us not skip the learning about what was shared and what was exposed.
So far it is a crime to even read the "leaks" even if it is in the newspaper which makes no sense to me and this is the Government that will follow the will of our President.
So if we blur the line this time then rounding up the Jews is possible as well, in my opinion.
I have no doubt that there will be punishment for the guilty but we also know we punish the innocent. Best to do this right.
I'm curious as to the full effect this leak has had.
What exactly has resulted? I assume some embarrassing politics has come to the front.
Perhaps even a few learned they had spies they never suspected?
Remember now Bank Leaks and other important "Leaks" have also happened which we don't see as a crime.
Those banking leaks we needed to know about too.
So WikiLeaks may be the Man of the Year or the Man of the Decade.
Takes balls.. Manning deserves fair treatment and if guilty he has to do the time.
As for blind rage against all acts of Wiki-leaking? I don't think it's all bad honestly.
Rather up-lifting in my opinion. We all like the news.. Just what news is happening?
If I understand what this data was it was reports basically.
I understand that the security level of these reports wasn't all that high. So is it the same as the Rosenbergs?
Is it equal to atomic secrets which a watch maker and his wife were put to death for?
Is our Gestapo okay because it's ours? Did Manning act alone and why was his security clearance maintained when there were issues before.
Did Manning get used? Is he a pawn?
There are bigger questions than simple guilt.
