Could you list some of the regulations (taxes) behind the medical pot market where you are? I'd be curious to hear the whole scoop...to find out what one must pay out of pocket in "overhead costs" before any actual investment is made toward growing the crop

I believe they tax medical gardens on a square foot basis and I think it's something like $90 a sqft or something like that. If I remember right they want $13,000 a year for a 5x5 garden or some thing like that. What we didn't expect was that it would become a defensible base for cannabis millionaires.

I hope we can all see that a medical program is a good idea but it is overload without rights for all.
I'd think the medical program would clean up if people can just grow in freedom.

Rancho Cordova is uing taxes as a way to rid themselves of unwanted.
My older Brother owned a home there in the 1980's Back then the big problem was keeping homosexuals out of Rancho Cordova. So, they have a history of hate there.
I feel sorry for the people who try and hide a medical garden then get caught and the city of Rancho Cordova seizes their property for back taxes and kicks them out on the street.. Then arrests them for vagrancy.

lol this is a hard place to argue for legalization as we are ALL growers, i understand that we all not in it for the money (myself included), but many others make profits off this "black market" its big bucks. its only natural for them to say they don't want it to pass.

And there are others that truly believe that it really should be free to grow any number any size anytime anywhere they want (I also believe this) but realistically I'm ready to compromise for something because i want to be able to enjoy the herb in peace and not have to worry about the made up bull shit "consequences" over a living plant that probably lived longer than man has walked the earth.

However since we are still in a weird state of things where cannabis is illegal and legal at the same time meaning that some make millions and some go to prison there are still high prices to be paid for both possibilities.
I suggest we lower the cost of both. No prison for growing all you can and sharing that with family and friends. Those who break the law and sell well they do so with risk.. Like it always has been. That is without a business license.
I just don't see how we can have cannabis freedom and still have cannabis prisoners like prop 19 wanted to do.
If all it takes to be legal is paying for a permit or getting a business licence isn't that reasonable?
That way commerce is regulated and private citizens support local laws.
We have to get this right in law and for all equally.

At the fundamental level lots of people just want it decriminalized completely not regulated, but i totally agree with regulation

I assume the decrim camp wants to protect the market prices that prohibition makes possible.. Hence the 5x5 if a property owner gives you permission then one 5x5 per property.. That was designed to keep the rights to cannabis restricted and out of the legal hands of the individual..
So we need to start simple. If we cannot legalize for the people then we cannot legalize for business.
I was telling a local Anti-cannabis neighbour that the only thing the anti-cannabis people can do to shape the future is to support full legalization for all as a check and balance otherwise we will find billboards pushing cannabis as a product to consume on an industrial level.
So to make the playing field level we can offset commercial "drug pushing" with private gardens.
Don't get me wrong.. Folks will buy rather than grow if it is affordable so industry needn't worry.

The all in one is a sweetheart deal with a safety net of if it fails nothing changes for those already in the business.

So I'm promoting establishing rights for people first. We have to decide about if we want to gamble in 2012 or not.

Will be nice to exchange heirloom varieties and count on folks who grow out strains just to make fresh seeds for the future people.

The contrasting thought I thought reading that is; would clear and unambiguous rights for the individual do what you want?
Put cannabis in the hands of the People and let the people care take cannabis.

Obviously commercial interests are like sharks circling over Cannabis.. I was thinking the way to offset the influence by business is to give rights to Cannabis without penalty.
I'm against placing Cannabis in the hands of business only.
