Ways to reduce power

Anybody have any way or tweaks to reduce the power used to grow those wounderfull tomatos?

I basicly turn off the water heater until i have to use hot water.

Turn off everything that use power until i have to use it (modem, ps3, phones,lights, i have the TV on power save, etc....)

Lol i use candels for most of my light source until i need the accual light bulb then i turn it on.

SO IS THERE ANY OTHER WAY OR THING THAT I COULD BE MISSING.

PS. I HAVE A 600W MH AND HPS LIGHT AND 424 CFM FAN ALSO 2 PUMPS.

isnt that too expensive solar panels and a power cell?
plus how many will i need or how is it messured as far as power needed?
also do you have any links for a cheap reliable site i could cheak out

make sure all the light bulbs in your house are low watt cfl's. 13w vs a 150w incandescent adds up real quick

Or get LED's they use like 1 or 2 watts. You can find cheap solar panel kits on ebay. It will pay itself of really quick in energy savings.

thanx guys and how many led's would be equavelant to the 1000 watt MH/HPS lights that i currently have? (or how would it work for veg and for bud because i searched for them and they are kind of cheap)
also i have been searching online for solar panels and they say they are like 15-20 watts per panel so would i need like a 100 to run 1000 watt hps and mh light

- Light Mover: a 600 Watt light will cover a 3' x 8' garden with a 6' light rail, and yield more per square foot than a stationary light with a 3' x 4' garden. (100% yield increase, faster harvest)

- Switch to 300 watt LED light (custom spectrum} with an elliptical trough reflector and a far red/orange separate panel for last hour light / first hour dark / first hour light.

- Go with Subcools Super Soil over hydro, get rid of the pumps, less work. (larger yield, faster harvest over pro mix).

- Make your own Air Pruning buckets (25%-50% yield increase, faster harvest)

- Install an Air Floor in your grow cage so air comes in through the bottom so the leaves can breath. (larger yield, faster harvest)

- Vent your air through the ceiling (top) if your not now. (vents heat, aids air flow)

- Look for larger yielding, faster flowering strains with the spectrum of effects, taste and smell that you want.

- Switch to a high yield, faster flowering growing method such as SOG, SCROG or CCOB.

Using the above methods I yield 3+ litres of 4 week cured bud per plant, 60 grams to 75 grams per litre most strains, 12 plants in my garden, with a 600 watt HPS and a light rail. 8' x 3' garden, pro mix, fox farm, a few suplements, an hour to train a plant CCOB, 15 minutes maintenance work per day for the entire garden.

if hes so worried about power costs no way he can afford what it takes in solar to run a grow or a house. and shutting of the water tabnk till you need it costs you more. now it has to re heat each time.
dont waste your money on led. they suk. ya they save cause there are week. the poorest lighting out there and way over priced.

here a 400 hps is only like 15 buk a month to run. i use less than a neighbour using cfl in the house and all he does is computers/server.,..no grows. turn dopwn the tunes....a 1000 watt stereo runs same as a 1k bulb will cost

I wouldnt know about saving power i run 8 1,000 watt hps flowering and 4 400 wats hps vegging. my bill comes out to 800 in the summer and 650 in the winter

I think you may be a little too worried about the power consumption. I think it will cost about $100 extra max on your electric bill. You can counter that buy turning you ac down and getting cfls or leds for your house.

defenitly the ac runs alot of power. would help out your bill alot to turn it down when you can
