Lol, can't help you decipher that. Have you thought about what you're going to do when the plants start getting taller? I'd suggest getting rid of that lamp eventually and replacing it with a hanging light setup.

Good luck.
My grow is actually very restricted for time... Ill probably start flowering around 8" tall in about 2 weeks. The lamp is also adjustable and lifts up a bit. The plants are also lifted off the ground- i can remove the things they are sitting on.

Sounds like you're set, then. Good luck, hope the grow goes well.

Thanks man.

Whats the generally accepted rule for watering sproutlings? Ive been giving about a teaspoon of water to each one every day. I know this sounds like a lot, but the top 2" of soil is drying out completely, and the bottom of the cup is still moist. The teaspoon of water is only enough to moisten that top 2"- nothing leaks out the bottom at all. Am i doing this properly? All my plants look pretty good... but i dont know if i should be giving more or less water...

And, new picture of the largest. I have 7 sprouts now, ones looking pretty shitty though.

Looks like you're off to a good start .. however,

I agree with the above, you're going to want to get some kind of hanging fixture, better to do this sooner then later..

I use small yogurt cups, when I water my lil sprouts I soak the cups until water seeps out the botton holes and let dry then repeat, it usually takes a day or so to completely dry but this will depend on your room conditions such as your temp, ventilation etc... I would recommend investing in a moister meter, some are cheap and are very handy..

Merry Christmas and Good luck to you and your grow!

PS:
way to show ur face in a pic.....loser

Humidity is at 21%. Ive been giving them only about a tablespoon a day, which really only soaks down the first few inches. The bottom of the cups seem to be staying wet (or moist).

I just transplanted the two biggest seedlings (pictured one, and one of similar size) into bigger pots. This is what they are currently in:

Large Folgers coffee can (like 1 gallon ish?)
3 large holes (3/4") on the bottom, 2 smaller ones
3-4 large rocks, with 10-15 smaller rocks on the bottom.

Soil medium is Scotts Potting Soil, Peat Moss Soil, and perlite.

Should I still water until it comes out the bottom? It seems like thats too much... but what do i know? lol

To be honest, I dont think these plants are going to ever make it to flowering. I have to leave to go back to college at the end of Jan, theres no way theyll be done by then. This is why im not going to get a hanging light setup. This was more of a test... my real grow wont begin until May.

Nah .. that I think that would be too much water, I would use one of them plastic cups - half to one cup per sprout, just water around stem, when the water around the stem mostly evaporates then water again.. all of the soil at that stage does not have to be wet...

Here is an example of what I'm talking about,

I was over watering as you can see by the plants in the picture, when I started watering less as described worked like a charm, then I invested in one of them cheap meters, best investment I made so far..

Good luck to you, I still recommend investing in a cheap moister meter...

I got mine for 6 bucks at a local hardware store, any where that sells gardening stuff should carry them, then later seen cheaper and better, like at walmart, home depot etc..

Made some changes today. Put the power strip on the wall, added another 13w cfl (it was laying around, and I had an extra socket. The 5 newest pleants seem to be doing very poorly, and ive pronounced 1 dead. I attributed this to the soil medium, as all other factors were the same, except the other plants had different soil. So I transplanted the remaining 4 plants into larger pots with the perlite, peat moss, potting soil mix. They were in 100% peat moss soil until today. One appears to be recovering, but i dont have much hope for the other three. If these three die, I'll still have 3, plus my big project plant (friends). We also set up a hanging light setup, and added some more white reflective material, and completely light proofed the room. No light gets in or escapes.

Hey SS,

I wonder if peatmoss holds in to much moister and killed the roots?
I was looking at your lights, if you want to get a little more effect out of them, fashion on a hood over the lights.

Aluminum dishes work well, the disposible kind from food stores.

Yeah, thats what I figured about the roots. Im going to start watering much more... i'll get the hang of it eventually.

I would try to hang something above, i was just a bit concerned with fire safety. Ill see if i cant figure something out though, thanks!

I forgot to ask, did adding the lava lamp help you temp?

lounge 8)
It did actually. It raised the temp of the entire room a solid 7 degrees *F. I was quite pleased actually, the room actually sits at a near perfect 81 degrees with the door closed, and when i open it to water, or work in there, etc, it drops to about 75. I am very pleased with the results of the lava lamp. As far as humidity... what should I be aiming for? Its usually right around 25-30%.

Looking good, the lava lamp in certainly interesting, another good idea added to my list .. thanks!..

If your plants are still in the peat moss, I wouldn't recommend watering much more....

Keep up the good work!

PS: I agree some kind of reflector will do wonders...
