Hey guys, im HighFlyBy. Today I am going to give you as much information about a new product, and also give you my full, honest, and non biased opinion of this product.
The other day I received a product called the Herb Iron. In a nutshell, this thing is a soldering iron thats has been completely customized, and turned into a user-friendly smoking device. It really blows my mind how much different this is compared to a Hakko, or even its close cousin the Phedor. In this review, we will be discussing the main differences between the 3, and then well get into what sets the herb iron apart from the rest.
Here is a couple shots of the packaging, and all that is included with the Herb Iron.
Now....lets get into the juicy details.
The cost? - Well, this thing isnt cheap, but at the same time, it is. The price is $69.99 USD with 6 bucks shipping anywhere in the US, 14 for international. Now you may be thinking, what the hell, thats not cheap! But it is.....if you click on my link to the Phedor, you may be shocked to see their price tag of $150, plus 20 bucks for shipping. This is a little outrageous for me, especially considering the differences between it, and a Hakko soldering Iron are minimal. The price of a Hakko soldering iron is usually around $30 +shipping. Now to get into what the difference between the 3 really are.
Things I disliked about the Phedor and Hakko - With the phedor, and the hakko, you have a soldering iron unit that pugs in, gets hot, and stays that way. Its a great way to light your herbs, but what about after your hit? With the phedor, it has a laptop-style power cord that can be unplugged, but frankly its a pain in the ass. Same thing with the hakko, but there is not pull cord. If you want to turn off the hakko, you have to get up and unplug it. The phedor is a boxy unit, which in my opinion, isnt very comfortable. The hakko has a slight edge here, but its not much better.
The Herb Iron, and what it changed - So upon opening this thing, and holding it in my hands, all I can say is WOW! They made the handle of this thing so comfortable, and you can hold it in many different ways to get the proper angle on the bowl of any piece your using. Also, no matter how you hold this thing, a finger always is resting on the POWER SWITCH!!! Wooooohooo! Man I was excited to see this. It seems like the herb Iron has resolved all issues I had with other comparable products. Lets get into some more details about the herb iron and what it does...
Warm up time from a cold start - So, within 10 seconds of pressing the power button, this thing is warmed up and ready to start lighting your herbs. I like to let it heat up for about 10 or so seconds, so the tip gets hot, and I use that for a more precise cherry on my bowl. This unit uses a ceramic heating element that is 25 watts.
Spring coil - Now this is a very innovative feature that I would have never thought of. They put a metal coil on the end, and it holds back the power cord, so it doesn't hand on your hand or anything while your trying to light your herbs. GREAT IDEA! A+++
Production - This is a truly american product. Almost every piece, even down to the H.I. lettering on the Iron itself, were made, and assembled here in America. I think this is a nice point to make
Warranty - The guys behind The Herb Iron stand behind their product with the industries only lifetime warranty against defects and 1 year accidental damage warranty. This is pretty essential....who else gives you a one year ACCIDENTAL warranty? Nice. A+
The Skinny - This is the best new product I have come across. I have actually GIVEN away my Bic's, because I simpy will not use anything but the Iron now. This thing has corrected EVERY problem I had with the Phedor, and the Hakko, and thats just amazing. For less than HALF the price of the phedor with shipping, the Herb-Iron is just simply the best value for the dollar, AND the better product.
The only problem I have found....the power cable is a little short. The guys from Herb-Iron have informed me that they have upgraded the power cord to an 8ft double insulated cord. So, my only problem has been resolved....you know what that means
5 out of 5 stars with this one...im just simply blown away. Great product.
