Your plant is looking exceptionally healthy. Great work! Glad your first grow is going great =]

+rep for the clean solid first grow. I love to see a well thought out effort.

thanks for the praise monkeybones. i originally did this bagseed plant as an experiment because i didn't want to get too stressed out over it. where as if i did my ak47 seeds i would have nitpicked every little thing. but now i know most problems can be solved with a fresh nutrient change and proper ph. i just learned about Low Stress Training last night and started putting it into effect on both my clone and my flowering plant. i like the idea alot and am brainstormin how i can do it better next go around. for instance i want to make a hard lid for my hydro resevore that has round bar the thickness of pen that spirals up and inward. that way i can train the plant on a solid base and not have to worry about snapping or tearing anything when changing out my water. this is an addictive hobby.

Added the 70r/20b hidhut 90Watt Ufo. added superthrive to water, and started bending plant to try and keep height down as much as possible

Too cool that you fabbed your own cab! I was trying to figure building my own out of 2x4's and OSB/plywood but then I found a top half of a china cabinet at thrift store for less than $20 that would work for what I wanted to do. I'll keep an eye on your progress, hope those hairs start blowing up for you soon!

She is looking great, and good job LSTing her. I need to get that soft tie stuff. I'm using ties that are the same as those twist ties used to close bread bags. They work great and are easy to use, but they do scrape and cut the stem. Since there is no pot to cut holes into for the ties building something around the base would be a good idea. Just take 4 bamboo skewers and ties them end to end in a square shape around the base of the plant. Then secure it to the lid of the root container about an inch above it. Now you have a bar going all around the base of the plant you can tie onto. I grow in soil so I just burn holes into the rim of the pot every half inch or so. I have about 20 ties on her and she has an even canopy.

I just started some new seeds too. 3 of them are Indian Haze, which is a pure sativa. Recommended flowering time is 10-11 weeks, but I have read some reviews that said if you wait for 12+ everything about it gets better. I'm really looking forward to trying them out. Too bad it probably won't be until September.

Also, the UFO is great for starting seeds. I have done it a few times. Just drop the seed in the soil and water. Then put it under 24 hour light. Within a few days it will be poking out. The ufo puts off enough heat to warm the top of the soil without baking it. Works great for me because I don't have anything else that stays slightly warm to start them in a paper towel. Plus no transplanting into the soil after they pop. So there is no chance of damaging the tap root. The downside is that I feel like I'm wasting a lot of energy by keeping that light on 24/7. Plus when I close my closet door the glow under the door looks like a dimensional portal. How exactly do you explain a neon purple glow coming out of your closet?

One last thing. Taping over the red switch was a great idea. It isn't enough to stop flowering but it can mess it up. Plus sativas tend to be more prone to turning hermaphrodite and something that small can have an influence on it. Now that it is off though maybe you will see a small bump in the growth.

The LST idea was a good one. the garden ties are soft and they don't cut into the stem at all. would definately suggest them. the lid that i am currently using for my hydro resevore is pretty flimsy, so im afraid that if i attach somethin to it then it might flex to much and snap something. my next container will be better suited for that purpose. As far as seeds go i found that if you put em in papertowel, ziplock bag, then put em on top of a receiver or game console thats always on, it warms them up perfectly. so far i haven't seen any pollen sacks. wouldn't they have shown up by now if it was a hermaphrodite. i hope this thing starts filling out in the next couple weeks. gettin anxious.

I wouldn't worry about it turning hermie. If you really screwed it up it would let you know. She looks great and seems to be putting more pistils out from just the last few days. Don't let yourself get impatient. That's when you rush it and you want to let her mature fully. I am looking forward to seeing her fill out. I'm subscribing to this journal, and it's the first time I have on this forum :-P

Don't worry jebus i won't rush her. since this is your first subscription i won't let ya down. :) you will get to see this all the way through. i thought the flowers looked a little fuller also. i went on vacation for a couple days and just got back this afternoon and took the pictures. I noticed that rain water is noticeably better for hydro and luckily we got a good rain this weekend. i set some buckets out and got enough to change my water tomorrow. i have been changing it once every week. the resevore that i switched to is helping out alot. at first it was a 2.5 gallon bucket. i had to add water every other day and the ph would fluctuate badly. then i moved to the 5 gallon. it was better but i still had to add water overy 2-3 days when i started flowering and adjust ph. now that i moved to the flat 10 gallon storage bin, i don't have to add water at all. just as long as the ph stays good (which it has been) i don't have to mess with it but once a week. taking out the grow nutes and goin full strength on the micro, bloom, and kool bloom was definately the way to go. i just wish i had tried it a week or two earlier. but all is well.....except for somethin eating a hole in a leaf every now and then. i think i am just goin to have to use a mild soap solution and gently was the leaves.
i don't know if you can tell by the pictures but some of the flowers are actually leaning toward the ufo. so im thinkin its doin a little somethin somethin. time will tell.

nice m8, ya will b well sorted 4 when ya get ya Ak seed on the go :-) most the pro's recommend the first 2 weeks of flower on ya veg nute then switch to bloom after them 2 weeks. just thinkin are ya useing a bug screen on ya air intake? I would recomend one if ya aint, they do slow airflow if ya intakes are too small, but stop most bug probs from startin. just an idea? Nice to hear the UFO is workin, I think it will work lovely how ya got it supplementing another light. imo they dont work well on there own coz there missing some of the light spectrums and we dont fully know yet how the plants use some of these, but your setup overcomes that limitation!

wishin big buds 4 ya m8!

so far so good essex. i figure that if this plant takes 5-8 more weeks to finish then i need to go ahead and start the ak seeds and put it with my clone under the veg light. surely it wont take longer than that to finish this plant. looks like i got lucky and did it like the pro's recommend. i waited a couple weeks before i took the floragro nutes out. as far as the bug screen goes, i am not usin one. i am gettin kinda excited again about the ufo. when i say again, i mean i was excited when i bought it and first started using it for the early stages, then thought it sucked major ass, removed it, and am now using it again to for flowering to which i believe it is actually helping at this stage of the plants cycle or it could be coincidence. idk. thats the hard part of not using it by itself. i would try it but not on this one cuz it was already delayed enough in the beginning

ya plan sounds spot on to me! cant wait to see it pay off 4 ya :-) some tight juicy buds, mmmmm

ya ufo is more suitabe for flower, blue led's are more for veg so thats why it didnt work that well for growin coz its only got a few blue. but will work good for buds :-) I'd still use both though coz more light = more buds

after lookin at every bottle Lowe's had, this is the bug killer i picked out. i am starting to think that maybe i don't even have a bug problem for two reasons. one i can't find em and two, cuz the holes in the leaves started showin up about the same time i started training it. so im thinkin it might just be damage from me playin around in the bush. either way i am goin to play it safe and spray the leaves down when the lights go off. if anyone has every used this stuff let me know.

I had the same thing with random holes appearing in leaves. I would accidentally stab them with the ties. I saw that stuff at Lowe's too. I grabbed a different type though. Let us know how your plant reacts if you spray it. Do you have any pics of the damage? Maybe someone can tell you if it is in fact bugs that are causing it. When are you going to start those AK seeds and are you going to keep them under light 24/7? I've heard you can do that with the auto-flowering strains.

I'm betting that its just damage that i've done. I sprayed it about ten minutes after the lights when off this morning. so when the lights come back on tonight i will takes some pics and let ya know if it messed with the plants any. i started the long process of germination this morning. the website that i got them from actually recommends that you keep then under light 24/7 throughout the entire cycle of the plant. but i don't know if i will. i started this current plant with 24/0 and then after awhile switched to 18/6 and thought the 18/6 worked better. but then again this is a different strain and the website says to do it. sooo maybe. i got a couple weeks to figure it out. If anyone has tried to grow these let me know. That was a good question Jebus. i guess i just thought i would do it the way i had been. got me thinkin

I have read up on em but aint grown em yet. from what I seen people say autos are best wiv a 20/4 but does seem strange that the breader said 24/7? all plants need down time its when the main nutrent transportation cycle happens inside the plant and they move elements where they need em. they spent millilions of years adapting to having a dark cycle and it seems shame to rob em of it, lol
