THERMOSTAT START to FINISH......

Hi, My grow room is booming with 2 nice ladies in flower, when lights are on, I have a 120mm cpu fan as an intake modified and inhailing from a boarded up chimney (fresh air), temps around 26oC, however upon lights turning off for the night cycle of 12/12 the temps fall as low as 12oC - not cool! So Ive decided to purchase a Thermostat! I am starting this thread to show others and get HELP from others to achieve a better ambiant temp through night cycle and be able to have more control over warm temps throughout 12/12 of lights on! I have some pics and will up date as often as I can, This will be a semi-pro build with some serious low budget parts and a high quality 'stat' please interject helpful comments, surgestions, relavent pics and info, Many thanks - STELTHY

This is the 2KW 2 setting fan heater I bought from HOMEBASE, for just 17 Quid, its about as round as a dinner plate and about 5" deep, on low it gives a luke warm out-put perfect for gradually warming my grow cupboard, with out risk of burning my ladies It also runs very quietly, now, because I am limited on space inside my growroom, I need to have the heater outside the growroom, so I am going to need to MODIFY A bit of DIY, so lets get started.... - STELTHY

Whats this for???? lol! well as funds are low this month and I need to modify cheaply, this will become a size adaptor, for ducting to my fan heater! I need to cut a hole in this...... effort!!

I bought this 7" 'Curry Dish' from 'POUND-LAND' for yes 1Pound! ... lol, nice n cheap! I estimated the circumference of the fans front outlet and got it spot on, happydayz!

The clamps are actually drainpipe clamps but fit perfectly around my 4" ducting, these will hold the ducting in place once I have completed my install!

Some 4" flexi ducting from B&Q's 6 Quid for 3m. NICE!

Ok so I removed the handles, just because it will look stupid if I leave them on, of course you could leave them on but, its nice to have a bit of dignity and try to make your setup look as proffesional as possible with the funds that you have - STELTHY

I also removed the sticky label to make it easier to cut through the metal, and also to minimalize the risk of fire/burning smell!

Right, this looks better !! the modified adaptor, fits snuggly onto the 4" ducting and has been taped in place heavily with silver tape its connected firmly and is air tight!

As you can tell from the above pic I had a tough time cutting through this 'Curry Dish' and resorted to stabbing it with a big knife lol! but.. it got the job done, luckily the hole wont be visable, a square was the best I could manage given the shit tools! and the risk of mentally cutting my fingers!

There is good air flow, and because the heater is only on low the shape doesn't effect the speed of the flow of warm air I was going to tidy up the silver tape, but since only the back of the heater will be on show, in doing so would just be a waste of precious silver tape!

Ok so my new heater is sitting in its finalized place, the wiring still needs to be sorted! but at least the ducting is in the growroom now, I cut a 4" circular hole with the appropriate sized hole saw blade! and pushed the hot air expelling ducting into the growroom so it ends mid height of my 2 ladies, Bloody sawdust went all over them! but I have managed to blow 90% of the saw-dust off them and hoovered up the mess.

Right this is a kinda birds eyeview, to show how it fits into place on the far left is my 5" small can filter, next to it is my new 2KW fan heater with ducting going into my growroom, next to that is my air pump housed in an insulated biscuit barrel,with small breath holes drilled in the top for silent running its held up with a shelf bracket and a bunjee cord, and supported by a squashed toilet roll, so absolutley no vibrations or noise! and next to that is my surge protected 10-way multi plug socket with many many plugs attached

Stelthy my man. Just clicked on the regular forum by chance and came upon this. I think you need your own section on how to do things. Have no idea what you are up to but its obviously not cooking a rogan josh. You poor bastards in England needing heat and us in Aus needing bloody venting. It was 38 degrees here today. Where are you in the UK? My mrs is from the Uk and i am heading back soon i think. Lived in Grays, Essex for a while but then moved in with my current GF in London. Hey by the way pick up the pace of your construction. Whats it for?

Ok. Just reread it all. I see. Your small island of many people has temps that drop into a zone of discomfort and the need for heating arises. lol. Sorry when i have had a few drinks i find myself very funny. My only criticism would be that you have bashed a square hole in your curry dish. Surely one who has built the best grow cabinet i have seen has a better hole saw.

I know Grays well I wont give you my exact location! but I know all these places if that helps London, Grays, Lakeside, Benfleet, and am roughly 20 miles from LONDON
Yeah my hole-saw broke my drill lol, burn't the motor out lol - nevermind, but I am not bothered for 3 reasons! 1) the heater blows warm air very slowly and the shitty square hole will hopefully slow it down even more so the warm air flow to the growroom will be gradient and less likely to burn the leaves or buds of my ladies. 2) no one will ever see the crap hole lol, except all of you lol, but seriously once its all setup it'll look fine and work even better! and 3) it's not my drill LOL- STELTHY

Ok that brings me up to date I should be picking up my thermostat today! the one I had ordered had problems with payment at their end! so HEY HO! I am off to my Hydrostore to pick up the Thermostat now I will post more pics as I go, I do have one problem at the mo so PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN?!!! my heater has an automatic cut off when it gets to hot, I need to overide this HOW DO I DO IT???? REP for all great answers ASAP!!!! - STELTHY.
