One of the reasons that i have switched to straight into 12/12 is that i only have one room and this then allows me to constantly have plants ready to go and also enables me to get many plants seeded and crossbred over the period of one year.
I can create a new hybrid every few weeks.
I also only have 4 foot of space between my light and the table so i need them short and fat.
Having said this is am going to try to grow a bigger plant after xmas and i am going to veg for 4 weeks as i am going to fim the plant,it will be short but fat and with many stems.
I don't know about other people but i get a lot more than a quarter from my small grow space.
I would estimate that even with short fat plants my area can kick out up to 450grams per square metre every 12-14 weeks.
My matanuska hybrid had no veg time at all and looks like its going to be a good smoke but it will like you said only be about 1 or 2 oz when its dry.
I am happy as i can manage my smoke and yield enough for 2 heavy tokers from this small space like a factory line and as i harvest old plants new ones are budding.
I can only wish for a space large enough to grow some really big plants in
