Hey WoodsMan - there's a whole lotta talk on here about AK and how nice it is, but what ever came of this crop that this thread was all about?

What was your dry weight in the end? What was your g/w? It doesn't seem like things turned out the way they were going at the beginning of this thread....

Hey there d.c.beard glad to have ya;
You're certainly right, things turned out quite different after unforseen circumstances played their role. Which is often the case around here, we just learn to roll with the punches out here in our neck of the woods.

Well, at the start of the thread I was introducing folks to the then current strains and projects that I wanted to share. I explained that I wanted to run an outdoor grow showing the benefits of our Alaska summers however, was forced to excuse myself from those projects in lu of taking a job. That job kept me away for most of the summer and in return I shared photos relevant to Alaska living. I again apologize for the side stepping of said goals, especially if it meant the loss of interest. I assure you all, it was not my intention.

The winters are long here; I hope to keep entertaining you with the photos and projects that I can get done during winter. Until next summer, when I will again attempt to include the RIU community in my Alaskan outdoor growing experiences, I will share whats going on here in the bush of Alaska, and the ways of the Woodsman.

*Single Carolina Plant Harvest: was guestimated to be nearly four ounces. The crop was taken in steps. Early harvest, Middle, and Late. Again, due to circumstance. 24"L X 24"W X 24"H SCROG, 5 Gal, under 400 HPS most of the growth.

:peace:

biggest i cought was a little under 4ft, a friend of my fathers has a giant musky 46lb's , he was super chubby funniest musky ive ever seen(proportion-wise) the fishing in general is great. afew years back my brother and I were fishing in a small river that comes off a large river, about 20 ft wide ful of weaves left and right, we fished here all the time becouse it was really secluded and one of the only places we could be on the water without crazy wind(need to roll and smoke joints in peace from the wind)
long storey short we went to the shore to catch crayfish for bait and i decided to go piss up the hill when i noticed a very large dark green monster plant, there were 7 others i made my brother come see what i found. we were jelouse!!!of coarse we left them be! but every year we still fish down there. And theres alway 8 beasts with hay for mulch and those tomato wire things(he totally prunes anything inside the net)
next summer i want steal a couple clones from him but i think karma would kick my ass, probably with spider mites.
good to hear the shultz is for the houseplants, iv been suprised with the cannabis some people grow with shultz or miracle grow.
cant wait for your next set of pics.
thanks cheif
Simply Awsome!
Well I dont know about other folks, but if I were bold enough to grow within an area that other folks traveled and all I lost was a clone, not only would I be happy that there was no true loss but made proud by the fact that someone felt my garden was worth replicating!
If nothing else leave a note saying thanks for the clone. Says whats needed to be said to the grower with out saying it. "hide your crop a bit better next time buddy!"

Ill try and find a few Pike Pics for ya...We have some biggens too!:blsmoke:

The Jacks Cleaner 2 have been moved to their final container. These are equivalent to the #10 pots. The plants are taking over the grow space as planned and I have moved the others to a vegg room.

They're definitely looking good now. I was just curious about what happened after like 35 pages.

And what I meant by g/w was 'gram per watt' which is pretty much how you measure the efficiency of your setup. I need to weigh the last crop to figure out mine. I've just been procrastinating. I work a lot and I don't have a lot of extra time.

Anyway, good luck on the new ones. Hopefully this time you don't have the problems you did on the last run. Lord knows I've has my share of problems in the past! You always learn something from it though.

He has a good spot, in my opinion we traveled on a tiny river that no one goes on for about an hour to get to the end. from land it would take forever to get there, no roads anywhere near that area.ill most likely take a couple clones next year, i think it be a waste of time though, the drive from the cottage to my place is 7 hours. if i took the clone once i get there i could let it root and put in a small pot for the 2 weeks im there, i think it be decent for a long drive?
love to see some pics of your fish,
keep on keepin on

Welcome to Scrog

Jacks Cleaner 2 Entering the scrog at roughly 36" in diameter and 24" in height. Just prior to putting the Scrog screen into place, the grow are is cleaned, bleached and dried. The plants are selectively tied down with wire holding the plants branches at the desired height which is that of the scrogs height from the floor (24").

The plants are put into place first, and the screen is then lowered ontop of the trained plants. Once the screen is in place, the wires are removed allowing the branches to find there opening. Within hours the plant responds to its new position as the leaves begin to turn upward and take form.

Looking great!! Haven't been able to read through this whole thread yet but lovin what i see so far :D

This river is fed by glacial run off, another perfect source of beneficial nutrients. "My plants eat Million year old ice melt, what about yours? LOL
I am up near your neck of the woods and my well is also glacier fed....plants seem to love it!! :D

One Week Into Scrog. Internodal spacing is on the stretch. Filling nicely and beginning to flower. 12-12 began the 3rd.

Watering consists of connecting a line between the resivior and the fitting at the scrogs edge. Gravity fed. Simple concept but effective. If further explanation of this is needed dont hesitate to ask.

masterfully done woodsman... your screens are always sooo amazing to watch take shape. You ever think about trying a Parabolic screen and have the bulb hang vertical in the center of all the growth. You could take advantage of the bulb putting light out in 360 degrees and have the plant surround the bulb..just a thought, something I would like to try in the future.

Thank you for the kind words,

I have worked a parabolic screen before and have decided to stay with the flat screen for a few reasons. Given that the plants strongest response to LST happens when the plant is fighting gravity at its strongest. That point is vertical due to the directional force that gravity plays. When the screens are placed around the light, there is lost force in that the plant is being trained to grow where ever the light is vs vertically. The benefit of "more surface area" in that case, does not out weigh the speed of the plants response to vertical challenging or LST. What I have thought would be something fun to do, is shape the scrog into something that would be photo worthy when complete...
