I hate College Algebra

who's with me? :-?
It's not so much that I'm not good at it, it's just the workload. Half of the course requirements are online assignments, which is ridiculous. Teachers have really gotten lazy, imo..

You want lazy? I'll give you lazy....

I received Algebra in the 7th grade. The fact that colleges even have to teach Algebra is an indictment of the educational system as a whole.

I'm taking PreCalculus right now, Pnug. And it's not so much the difficulty of the class that's the issue, it's the online work. I do not believe that math assignments should be conducted over the internet. I'd rather hand in some hastily scribbled answers to bookwork than try to insert calculaic answers into a box online.

in 7th grade I was in pre-Algebra, and I took Algebra in 8th grade, and in 9th grade(passed both times) and moved past Geometry and Algebra 2 in Highschool. But NEVER had to do any fill-in-the-box online work. it's tiresome. The teacher e-mails the students in-class print outs and doesnt have even half of the class' addresses right. It's almost a joke..

yeah, the online work is bull-shit as far as math goes. In my Botany class, it's no problem. The tricky symbols and spacing of numbers you have to do online is truely wack. but I just completed all of the assignments I needed before class today so im in the green zone :eyesmoke:

I FEEL THE EXACT GOD DAMN WAY NOW

i was up until 5 am last night doing college algebra and accounting.

it's not that this section is hard, it's just a shitload of substitution, so it's a lot of work and showing your work.

fuck i'm exhausted.

Just found out I made a 90 on my first Chapter Test!! I guess I had to get back in to the swing of things :eyesmoke:

but still, internet-based algebra is bull-shit. I can make A's in class, but B's and C's online, because of certain notation.

Online math is bullshit, what happened to the good ole days of writing it on paper and handing it in, alot of the times you could just type the answer in wrong and fail. My prof is a lazy ***** and only gives our assigns online.

I agree. All that Math Lab bullshit is....bullshit. It seems like its just a way for community college teachers to do less work. I didn't have to do it when I took algebra but I had to help my girlfriend with hers and trying to insert all the notations and get fractions to do right is a pain in the ass. And her teacher didn't show them how to do it and the tutorial online was worthless. I feel for you man.

Yeah it feels like almost a cop out. I'd much rather do these assignments in class and get some instant feedback, rather than e-mail and wait and discuss what I did wrong via mail-tag. But I have to play their game.

Congrats on the grade, and smoking also. I got a B on my first test, but i knew I did bad since it was all graphing. Oh well, now the real algebra starts and I can get my A

They give it now because so many don't already possess the skills. It wasn't always that way. 30 years ago, you would be hard pressed to find any College teaching Algebra 1. Back then, it was a given that the student had learned it already.

Basically you are paying for all the remedial students in your College.

Maybe.. I have already taken the class twice and passed both. This time around, there are a few new elements I don't remember ever studying in highschool. Also, a graphing calculator was never a requirement in my 8th and 9th grade Algebra classes. It is now, as well as the online acrobat-reader based math lab. Atleast I have an A :blsmoke:

So you didn't take Algebra in college 50 years ago? lololz just kidding CJ. kiss-ass

I'm going to guess that obviously it is a requirement and not an elective? About 35 years..... I'm still razor sharp with Math though... always loved it. It's the one true universal language.

Algerbra are you complaining about a subject that i was do pre high school being aught in college? Wow i didn't think that was possible but our educational system doesnt want to hurt the stupid peoples feelings becaus they cant keep up. WTF!!! I took physics in high school man and calc and adv calc as an undergrad before going in to higher llevel fin/econ and acc class's.

Its basicall there to make you do busy work because the material is not difficult and everyone cant get A's and pass how would you retake it and pay again then?
