You're insane for thinking it would fuel the fire. It would SLIGHTLY diminish it (although not much at all) because it would simply clear up the debate in one of two ways.

If he showed a U.S. birth certificate, that issue the right throws at him will be solved. If he showed a Kenya birth certificate, the people would be outraged. THAT would fuel the fire more. But if he showed he clearly was from the U.S. then the right will stop pressing him about it. (how hard could it be for the president to fake a U.S. BC if he really wanted to, after all he is the president)

There's absolutely no reason to not show it unless he has something to hide. Like someone said earlier, where there is smoke there is fire.

It could just be a diversion. Keep peoples efforts focused on the wrong front, and later attempt to discredit them with the release of the American BC. When the accusations becomes frenzied. Just a possibility...you never can know with these types. I wouldn't be surprised either way.
