Is Gay Marriage Really That Big Deal?

My theory is this, i feel the divorce rate might actually go down a few notches, if the government lets these religious ties with laws alone, and just legalize gay marriage in all 50 states being that, a portion of the current div. rate was a result of gays/lesbians marrying the opposite sex knowing that's not where their heart was, when they said "i do". U.S. putting restrictions on love/destiny is a retarded reality.

No I don't mean Christianity. Christianity was born in a pre science world and was able to entrench itself into the societal meme. It's another myth but with powerful forces and monies to protect it from real scrutiny, and of course the ever present need for man to ssothe the itch of a known mortal life.

Fuck the church. They take 10% of everyones money because you can buy your way into heaven, with cash. It's a scam, it's a pyramid scheme and there are a whole lot of takers.

Priests must abstaine. I guess molesting little boys is considered abstaining by church standards?

The bible is just different peoples personal views of how they viewed jesus. It was not handed down by some fiery god, it was invented, made up, much like a Readers Digest.

Thou shalt not kill (an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth) :?:

Thou shalt not kill (if your neighbor plants 2 crops in the same field it is your duty to gather others together and stone him) :?:

You can and will go to hell for mixing 2 fabrics on your body. (guess those poly-cotton blends will be the death of us all) :?:

Should I continue with the contradictions?

Word dude for real the biggest scam ever! To top al I cant stand hard core chirstans and their funny ways :-):spew:

I'm all for social justice for gays. I think they should have the same rights and the contracts or civil unions between them are none of the government's business. Too bad they weren't interested in social justice as much because we could have had national acceptance of gay civil unions by now. Instead, it seems to me the gays and the hard left are more interested in a hostile in your face attitude. Marriage is an institution many thousands of years old. Attacking it and wanting to damage it and water it down in the name of justice is perverted, I think.

Why can't gays just have equal civil union rights and call it something other than marriage. Why does it have to be marriage? It isn't akin to separate but equal, there is nothing separate about it. They are different things why not call them different names? Do women seek to be called men because being called women is separate but equal? Pretending that gender doesn't exist is not a stop on the road to social justice.

In my state, Ohio, a few years ago a constitutional amendment passed against gay marriage by a landslide. In it is a provision that civil unions are also off limits. That should not have been the case and would not have been if the militant gays had not been so strident. They pushed and the majority pushed back. I know quite a few gay couples in long term relationships and every one of them says they don't care about the "word" marriage - and that's all it is, a word. When we let principles and fairness be the casualties while we fight over words we fail.

I do not believe it is anyone's business to define anothers relationship. The concept of asking permission from the state to be married is outdated. I don't think legalizing gay marriage is a win for gays. I'd rather see the government out of everybody's marriage, gay or straight.

Marriage has two meanings and two purposes.... One is a spiritual union. The other is a business contract. The divorce rate will tell you which is held up to be more important. Gays want the contract, but would also like to take a crack at the union part as well. They should not be denied either.

deny gay people the contract. If you don't then my neighbor is going to try and marry her poodle. when is it ever going to end? How about lets not call it marriage. Lets call it queerage or something like that.

I personally don't care if they can marry or not. Just as long as they are not afforded any "Special" privileges or rights us straight people aren't able to partake of. In fact i don't care what anyone does, its their business. as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else its fine, but you don't get a special status because of it.

I say let the citizens of the states vote and decide. It is they, after all, that must live with the repercussions which inevitably follow all such decisions pertaining to self governance. Or we can just have the federal government mandate law by proxy. Like the marijuana ban. Like abortion on demand. It's one or the other folks. We decide for ourselves, or "it" decides for us. And "it" doesn't often change "its" mind, despite the pleas of "its" subjects.

Like the marijuana ban, I don't think that others should be able to tell people that they are not allowed to do something that is not hurting or costing anybody but themselves.

If people don't want to give up the hetro word "marriage" that is fine, I don't think it should be up to the government anyway. Let everyone sign a contract under the law, and get joined with whomever they wish. And leave it up to w/e they want to toss on the word 'marriage'. If someone wants to go to a church, fine, but don't be pissed when someone creates their own church and gets 'married' in it.

The cost is that of self governance. If we can't, as individual states, make simple decisions such as the definition of marriage, or can your citizens grow and consume certain plants, what decisions are we, as individual states, as individuals for that matter, capable of making? Why not relinquish all such decisions to a panel of Federally appointed judges and abide by their rulings, completely?

I didnt read all 64 pages on this thread, no way i have the time but im just going to speak my mind on this topic real quick. I live in South Carolina, so thankfully I don't see many homo's around, but there was one that stood out because he...'it' more like it, had an awful lisp, wore pink shoes, carried a purse, and was apprehensive to the slightest distasteful look shot at him. This was at my Highschool too, i think he was suspended several times for fights, or clothing issues. I wanted to tell him that if u don't want to get looked at like your some ugly spectacle, stop dressing/acting like one.I realize not all homos are like this but i have to wonder HOW people end up in such a shitty state of being.

Also, how can men be interested in another mans hairy ass. Like i'm sorry you didn't have the necessary rough-and-tumble experiences to make you into a MAN, and that instead you played with barbies and braided hair when you were growing up, but To me it doesnt compute, at all. There is no such thing as a gay gene, that's fucking preposterous. It's a leftist joke. No wonder this countries gone to hell.

Homosexuality is disgusting, but 2 women together i have a lighter view on, because somehow its CLEANER. But if 2 lesbos try and raise a son, then i have problem with it, unless they expose him to sports, and activities that make us into what men are supposed to be, upstanding, strong, and brave. Not some pussified girly men who put their penises in a hole meant for EXITING ONLY. oh and read this http://www.lifesitenews.com/ldn/2008/jan/08011514.html. (It's not recent recent, i know, but it still happened, and can happen again.)

So gay people are getting owned left and right with not only discrimination, but mother effin FLESH EATING DISEASES. Im not going to make this a religious argument because religion helped ruin part of my life so therefore i am not part of any 'group'. Fuck unificationist beliefs, if Sun Myung Moon is the Messiah on Earth LIKE HE SAYS HE IS, then he failed miserably. I believe in God, or a creator, that is all. But if God did create an Adam & Eve, Man and Woman, Man to be with Woman, Penis for the Vagina to simplify it, then i really don't think there's supposed to be Adams with Steves. If i ever see two gay dudes walking down a street...with an adopted son...i would have the audacity to question their motives. Rightfully so too i think, 2 gay dudes raising a son will MOST LIKELY result in a future gay. A future failure to be discriminated against, seeing as gays make up what, 4% of the population? If i was a homo, i wouldn't even shoot for marriage. I would seek straightness. Because vaginas are where its at.
