Roseman and purpdaddys guide for my Bubbleponics setup from Stealth Hydroponics

nice pics purp!

is the blue lighting coming from a black light?? is that for when they're sleeping??

i heard during the flowering phase you can use a green light to observe your plants w/o disturbing their sleep time. any truth to this??

btw, rover looks o so ready for the harvest!

no man i was adjusting the ''white balance'' on my camera using the flash and it just came out like that.
Well using green lightbulbs to observe your plants during dark period wont hurt em from whay ive read from many VERY mcredible growers.Never messed with it though.I like it to be completely dark in the room,,i even hang towels over the frame of what my plants are in.

i see i said...

well, even if the green lights wont disturb the plants sleep time, i guess as a new grower i should keep my ass away from any light during the 12 light off period.

thanks

Hey Purpdaddy, Roseman or anyone who can help. I am currently using the SH DWC Buckets that I have changed into bubblers. Each system is separate, no central resivoir. My isssue is I am getting huge ph drifts throughout the day. This is the first time I have started from seed in this system. The seedlings don't look quite ready yet for nutes so I am just using ph'd water. I am using city water that has a starting ph of 7.5, (so using the SH PH Down) i bring it to 5.8 and a temp of about 70 degrees figuring that light heat and pumps will naturally bring it to about 75-77 degrees (which it does). Now by the end of the day the PH of the water has drifted back to it's normal out of the tap ph or a little higher (7.5-8.0). Temp inside my tent stays at 80 degree with 28% humidity. Anyone have any insight as to why my ph drifts so much throughout the day....? Please Help!
Thanks

pH Stablization

The pH should not vary more than .5 to .7 everyday, and if it does flucuate alot more up OR down daily, something is wrong.
First, ask yourself, what is going into the tank? Water, Nutes, pH UP and Down should be it. Adding anything else, WHEN YOU DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM, is not the wisest thing to do. (Yes, sometimes some small amount of peroxide or hydrozyme might be needed, but I've done 7 grows without it.)
And if you are making NUTE SOUP, ( a nute and supplement mix) I can not advise you about your pH.

Except for the very first time you add the water to the tank, You should pH balance your water FIRST, everytime, outside of the tank, then add the nutes, pH balance it again, then add it to the tank. It should not go up more than .5 within one day or 1.0 in two days.
If it does go up more in one day or two days, you got to do something to stablize it. After the first two or 3 weeks pass, and the plants are drinking a gallon a day, you can add one gallon back that is over adjusted or over compensated, to get it back down. FOR EXAMPLE, If the tank is reading 7.2, then add one gallon of 6.0, and you'll get it dwosn SOME, without it being too drastic.
DRASTIC pH CHANGES WITHIN 24 HOURS ARE VERY DANGEROUS.

OR
Try adding a lump of charcoal or two tied in a panty hose or nylon stocking to the tank.

Go to Walmart or PetSmart to the Aquarium Dept, next to the fish food, filters and additives and sea salts, and get those little packages of Ammonia Control absorbant packets. They look like little sponges in a wrapper. I can not remember what they are called, but they work great to sTAbalize the pH. Or get the Ammonia control pellets and add a few to the tank.

Get everything in your tank like you want it, (except the roots or plants,) and add two heaping tablespoons of baking soda to a gallon of water,Stir it good, then add it to the tank. Wait ten or 15 minutes, then pH adjust it again. Then it should stay stabalized until the next Drain and Replinish.

By the time I get to Vegging 3 or 4 weeks, they drink a gallon a day, and by the 10th to 13th week, they drink a gallon and a half a day.

DWC takes a hour a day, well, most days, 30 minutes, and on DRAIN AND REPLINISH DAY, weekly, an hour...........although I spend lots more time just looking at them.

HAHA yea i agree to that one..this is not a system that you have to keep checking up on..just the ph i would recommend checking every other day(im kinda noid so i check mine a lil more oftn),and thats it besides adjusting the lights.I would like to try other systems like ebb and flow, but the BP got me hooked...heres pics of last night grow..

Very easy, either in a 8 gallon tote, or a 5 gallon bucket. Look at the DIY link at my signature.

The pumps are almost silent.
Time you get to Flowering 3 or 4 plants, one gallon of the water will have to be replaced daily.

My bubbleponics order is in. Two questions about water. Is water that has been filtered and reverse osmosis treated as good as distilled? I can get it where I can fill 5 gallon bottles I have. Distilled I have to lug out of walmart in gallons. Second, In trying to visualize the unit, the top is connected to the bottom so when you open it you can't just set the top aside. This may sound silly but once you like lift the top up and can't move it further, what do you do with it? I ordered the drain kit but I'm wondering about refilling after flushing and adding water in between. I'm rigging up the shelves it will sit on and wondering if I should make some accomodation for that.

IDK man..distilled water is boiled or heated up to a certain temp and been through RO and sumthin else...So im gonna have to go with the distilled because it has no PPM.I use just distilled.
Just put the top(which the plants are growing out of,,place inbetween 2 shelves letting the roots just dangle.giving em an oxygen bath.

OK, can't take a chance on bad water. I just hate throwing 6 of those plastic jugs away every week. But you can't buy distilled water in your own container. I'm still trying to picture what you mean by "place in between two shelves?" I was thinking that when you pick the top up, the tubes will be connected both on the top and down in the tub, so how could you lift it far unless you disconnect everything. Is tat it? disconnect it all everytime you change water? (I'm so lazy :blsmoke:)

There are several ways to lift that lid and drain the tank, we all do it different.

with this system you can just disconnect the hose from the feeder hub leaving just the pump in the water and remove the top with no trouble..Thats how i did it.But there are many other ways(more simple) to do it.
