Ffof soil reuse, soul amendment recipe

So basically I'm just looking for a recipe to reuse ffof. I used to have a recipe over a decade ago, I lost it.

The recipe I had you just added some organics to the soil after you did a grow.

Using this recipe you could start seeds in the soil and basically do a 5 week veg without having to give them anything but water.

If anyone knows this recipe, please post it or link me.

Thanks people!

Things are easier now! You can just find a nice all in one dry fertilizer and add 2-3 tbsp per gallon of old soil.

There are a bunch of choices.

You can probably find some "Dr Earth Premium Gold All Purpose" fertilizer at your local hardware store.

If you want to stay loyal to Fox Farm, check out "Happy Frog All Purpose."

And if you want fancier ingredients "Down to Earth Biolive" or "Gia Green All Purpose" or "Roots Organic Uprising: Grow" cost a little more.

Definitely agree about keeping it simple and using an all-purpose organic fertilizer. When I started growing organically, I used the KiS Organics nutrient pack, and followed their directions for amending used soil. Per gallon, amend with:

- 0.8 to 1.6 oz nutrient pack (or Dr Earth, Gaia Green, Garden-tone, etc. It's pretty close to the 2-3 tbsp per gallon that @Soil Growth recommend)
- 5 oz aeration (I use perlite)
- 5 oz compost or worm castings

Sometimes the mix can get a bit muddy after several rounds, in which case I add some peat or coco to help lighten it up a bit.

Good luck!

Awesome, thanks

“ Spent “ FFOF is a great seedling starter mix. I often recycle leftover soil specifically for seedling starts in solo cups.

You can re-amend the soil with simple additions- Ewc , General purpose dry fertilizer.

Dry fertilizer like Bio-Live / Dr. Earth / Down to Earth 5-5-5 / Recipe 420 6-8-4 or even Roots Organic Terp Tea Grow mixed in. Add some myco to transplant hole in your now remixed FFOF - add the above solo cups “ plug “ and you are gold.

No recipe needed. I do all layered mixes like this and will never go back to bottles.

You can re-charge spent potting soil via composting with kitchen scraps as well as leaves, pulled weeds and grass clippings. Don't layer the clippings too thick or they'll take forever to compost. Add small branches for aeration and turn the pile once a week. Also don't add apple cores or anything from corn as those attract deer.

You can try this...

Worm castings
DTE 4-4-4
Basalt Rock Dust
Fulvic Acid
Diatomaceous Earth
Humic Acid
DTE Bio Live or anything to introduce some microbiology
Molasses
Dolomite Lime
Gypsum

Just enough to introduce a balance. Mix very well and moisten not soak, with Molasses and microbiology in water, and allow to set for a couple weeks, turning a couple times.

Or just Google organic soil amending or organic soil recipes
