Not just women, but babies too. Texas had an eight percent increase in infant mortality it's first year after their ban went into effect. With a 14 percent increase in deaths due to birth defects.
Texas is approaching third world country infant and childbirth mortality status, for reasons of religious and political extremism.

This is what the decline of civilization looks like up close and personal.

Those with money can travel out of state for proper care; the poor are fucked.

Helluva job, Abbott...

I am so discouraged in our system. It’s like they are working together. The people need to rise and create a new system. This one is completely broken now. That was the message I got from Kamala speech about dark days ahead and bright stars in the sky as your hope. Was that an Occupy Mars moment? I just found out my little sister has turned into a Trump Prepper.
I think America is very pessimistic right now; those who voted for Trump say they did it as a protest of the way things are.

Preppers think they see the end of the world coming but putting some supplies in a hole somewhere won't be enough. If it gives her a sense of security I can understand. Don't take her embrace of Trump too seriously; it may not last. It's a coping mechanism.

The rich own the political system; we've just seen their influence on display. They like things the way they are because they profit from it. I've been watching the ugly slide since Reagan was elected.

Tragedy of the Commons:

"The tragedy of the commons is the concept which states that if many people enjoy unfettered access to a finite, valuable resource such as a pasture, they will tend to overuse it and may end up destroying its value altogether."

Cui bono:

" The principle that the ultimate initiator of an action is likely he who stands to gain from the action."

Civilizations fall when the interests of the powerful diverge enough from the needs of the majority to become destructive to the future well-being of that civilization.

America has certainly arrived at this inevitable juncture in our history. We the People can and must step in and reverse this course. FDR showed the way and even though his reforms were incomplete, it took 40 years for them to be reversed in the Reagan "revolution" aka the revolt of the rich, the consequences of which we are suffering through to this day.

I don't fight Fascists because I think I will win; I fight Fascists because they are Fascists.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone—there have been very few post removals recently, and that speaks to the effort many of you are putting into following the rules.

I truly appreciate how most of you are respecting the guidelines, and I don’t always give enough credit for that. While some members may have struggled with the rule changes over the last couple of years, it's clear that we’re more than just a political forum. We receive daily feedback from people outside the politics section who are appreciative of the positive changes and overall atmosphere.

That said, please continue to be mindful of how we treat one another. I know tensions can run high, but let’s try to avoid personal attacks and keep the conversations respectful. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Welp, that's it for me on this site, folks. Until the next national crisis, and I feel the need to talk and read what a good cross-section of internet society are saying. Thanks for the honest dialogue from everybody.

love you all, I just think the conversation is better here when I don't post. Not dishing on the mods, they are doing fine. I don't want to follow the rules as they are enforced here, so, I'm out.
Mods doing an outstanding job of cleaning up what was a one sided echo chamber. Very refreshing to see an actual conversation taking place here.
Sunni keep kicking ass ! Great job !

It looks like we're getting into a cycle of back-and-forth arguing, which is derailing the thread and is not allowed. Name-calling has also started during these heated exchanges.

Here’s how this will be handled:

  • You’ll receive a warning.
  • If multiple posts are removed and you continue to engage in these conflicts instead of using the ignore feature, I will remove both parties from the thread.
Let’s keep the conversation respectful and on-topic.

I wore my Army veteran hat to the store today......for the last time. :-( I cannot stand the looks of distain from people who assume all veterans are trump supporters.
That’s odd because when I take my 96 year old father and veteran of the Korean and Vietnamese out to appointments and other errands he always wears his veterans hat and constantly and consistently gets approving and complimentary comments. And this is in Northern California, Northbay area also. I wonder what’s different?

Because at trump rally's they always post up the veterans directly behind him waving the American flag, and they don't do that at democratic rally's so most people assume veterans are republicans. countless times people people have thanked me for my service along with some negative comment about democrats, they just assume I'm republican. There's a shit ton of republicans in Northern California and I don't want to appear to be one of them. I'll find some fishing hat or something to wear.

My wife and I used to travel extensivly in Mexico in the 80's & 90's. I had a 4x4 truck and camper and we loved beach camping. We put 1000's of miles driving all over Mexico. We had some sketchy experiences the last 2 trips down and some good friends of ours got robbed on the Hwy to Cali. So we lost our confidence in being safe in Mexico. We've been to Canada a few times with no such issues.
Where in Canada would you move to?

about a year ago we drove into Vancouver BC. Total nightmare. Traffic and weather was horrendous. .. . Sirens and Police everywhere. Homelessness. Fentanyl capital of the world .we turned around and got out of there as soon as we could. Wow. Total hell hole. Totally over populated and bad bad vibes.

Wow that sucks. Back in the early 1970's after I got out of the Army I built a log cabin in NE Washington state right on the Canadian border. The nearest town to go shopping was Grand Forks BC. We would go up there a couple times a month. Great little mountain town, loved it. I doubt things have changed much in 50 years since...I think I might start looking there.

Things have changed significantly. The floods have changed the landscape. It’s a huge problem. People have built the area up. Your log cabin might have floated away, 50 years ago and no change. lol. You gots to be kidding. lol.

Wenatchee is nice town. Nearby Leavenworth is a really neat town...The whole town looks like Bavaria...
