Gnats! Wanna sterilize soil

Let me ask you this lol - any issue using this stuff in flower and or up to harvest? Lol

Only reason I ask is I know some people like to flush their soil before harvest (I do not personally) but is there any chance that the roots take this stuff up onto the plants?

U are just being paranoid, BTI is just a beneficial bacteria and def isn’t a harm to you or ur plants end results.

flushing is also just paranoid and non ag/logical reasons. Only reason anyone would need to “flush” was way over feeding and they were reusu(ng their medium and knew it had too much salts/metals ( if u were reusing u wouldn’t be doing that in first place )

Yea OP let me say Im dtw coco and Im at war with the gnats. Lost 6 of 8oz in one plant, they must of caused it. Brown roots. White roots in the uneffected.

FML I thought gnats were a summer thing. Better buckle up lol I just started using the bits correctly. Hope that works. Bought 120oz of it.

Nice thread, Ill have to check out the liquid bti.

I can't believe fungus gnats would cause that much damage, you sure they're not root aphids?

They infested my mother cabinet, keep releasing adults and they got into the other tent but that doesnt happen super easy but it did.

I only put one nug of bti in each corner being dumb misreading the instructions. As I keep studying the matter I learn new things, I guess it will take 3 weeks to see it work.

No other bugs visible. I didnt think gnats could do this but quickly found they do. Hundreds of them munching on the roots surely can. And other parhogens etc naturally hitch hiking.

One way to tell them apart is by their wings - gnats hold their wings horizontal when at rest, winged aphids hold theirs vertically like a sail

Idk actually I just saw live ones and they dont have sail wings. Could have both.

Hard to tell on a sticky card, the ones I can discern on there definitely have long bodies like gnats tho

Microbe lift bti. Simple,cheap,effective. Sticky traps for the few remaining Speedy Gonzalez's that linger until repeated applications does it.

Fungus gnats have a longer thorax, and root aphids have those twin tailpipes, stubbier body.
Wing length vs body length is another way to sort them.
